Live hash?

Someone asked me if I had ever tried "live hash". What is live hash? Hash made with dry ice and fresh cut from the plant buds. No drying, no curing, no waiting. Just cut off the big fan leaves and stems leaving the untrimmed fresh "live" bud, toss in the bucket with lots of dry ice and away you go as usual. Takes a little longer to freeze up but other than that, get the silk screen and start sifting. Supposed to taste better, idk. Anyone else ever heard of or tried this?

I couldn't wait to cure, one time, and tossed some nugs in a 1 gallon bubble bag. It's not worth it.
Dry ice does a great job of instantly freezing what it touches. With nugs, you will not get a great return, but it will be great hash because the frozen buds are not releasing what's inside. Then you have de-trichomed nugs, with goodness left inside, that will be wet after they thaw.
Some folk grind dried bud for their hash. That's not something you can do with wet, without a huge, sticky mess and a grinder that won't get clogged up. By grinder, I mean coffee grinder or blender. A hand grinder takes a lot of work. Scissors are easy to use with wet bud. But scissoring for DIH still won't open the bud enough to expose everything.
I am not a fan of making DIH in general. Not only do the trichomes get frozen off, a lot plant matter starts breaking off, the longer you do it. I have no idea when what's coming out is full of more plant matter than trichomes.
Get me?

Sounded like a goofy idea, that is why I asked. Anyone can make up anything and claim to be an expert.

What maybe could be done is dry ice fresh trim, larf, and popcorn nugs. If I ever had enough to bother with, I might go that route. But not so long as to get the green stuff.
I also noticed dry ice covered with green. Probably means trichomes, too.

By the way, Ckb. When you say someone asked you, is that like saying, 'My, uh, friend, not me, my friend wanted to know...'?

Live hash as it's called is just that. Frozen fresh bud or trim. No curing. Dry ice flash freezes it and the process is the same. I don't prefer this method as there's still excess moisture. Plus the hash came out sticky after it thawed. The trick to dih is using a smaller micron bag and not shaking it too aggressively or too long . 3 minutes with 90 microns is my max for cured bud and that's relatively gentle not destroying it. If it has a gummy texture you did it right.

No, not me, it was my uh, my friend, yea, who said it. I was skeptical, like uh, are you bonkers? that sounds like a bad idea, but hey I don't know everything so I threw it out there and asked. My uh, friend, yea, also suggested this could ah, be done with a rosin press, and uh, I uh, just nodded and uh, said ok, and grinned. I didn't really want to turn a rosin press into a Juicerero. That sounds like a colossal mess. I didn't even ask about that one. Anyone with a rosin press want to try?

Neighbor's sister's boyfriend's cousin (seriously) pressed out a few of my fresh buds. Pressed a lot of moisture out with the rosin. It tasted like fresh buds. Burned horrible in a banger. It leaves lots of residual ash that should never be left in a banger.

You make live resin by freezing fresh material and then turning it into bubble hash. From there you have to squish into rosin and you end up with "live hash". I like my eho "ethanol hash oil" because it takes 2 days to process and done and with proper purge tastes alright and gets you stoned.
