Little Black Fleas/Bugs

Hello. I am growing some beautiful plants at home. Its my first time and I am very happily surprised BUT my question is...

I have tiny little black flies (smaller than green flies) living in the soil. If I tap the plant pot they scuttle up the sides of the compost and dart across the surface before disappearing back under the soil. I can only see a couple and cant see any eggs or larvae etc. They are never actually on the plants.

My question is what can I do? I used organic soil and have not used any nutrients or nasty sprays pesticides etc. The seeds were planted on 26th June and my plants are over a metre tall and full of buds.

Please advise.

you probably have fungus gnats. get a sticky trap to stick into the soil. Common issue for indoor growers.

dirtymike is probably right , very common easy to deal with. Sticky traps can be enough if it not a bad infestation.
There are organics pesticides you can water in to the soil if it gets very bad.

Fans blowing across soil will get rid of them.

Letting them get on the dry side for a few days will inhibit fungus gnats also.

If you’re wanting to stay organic get some Neem oil and start adding it to your water. It’s safe for the plants but will kill the bugs along with any eggs/larve in the soil

Fungus gnats are typically a symptom of overwatering.

So reduce the amount &/or frequency.

A fan works well too as Doggerdab said.

Dont use and pesticides. Totally unnecessary for fungus gnats
