HELP! Hooked seedlings

Hey guys,been having this hooked sprouting problem for over a year now.Been growing since 2012 with great success and now my seedlings sprout hooked and when they do straighten out they look a little deformed and never take off.I’ve tried different mixes and I’m not overwatering.I’ve even thought maybe some kind of pathogen in the air.Temps around 75 and humidity around 55%.My seeds are fresh and very good genetics.Any suggestions?

Do you soak your seeds prior to planting? How deep are you planting them?

There is nothing wrong, that is how they sprout. They will be fine.

If you google how a weed plant sprouts, you will see that the stem breaks the surface with the seed pod still underground. Then the stem pulls the seed pod out removing the seed pod from the shout hopefully. That's why they have a hook, they will straighten and be fine. It also means you planted at the right depth it's not fun to remove a stuck seed pod. Also the grayish color is also natural. If you have one come up with the pod still on start misting it to keep it moist and help it lose the pod. But just enough to keep the pod damp, seedlings don't need much water.

Yes,then the quarter inch taproot is placed down in the hole with about an eighth of an inch of coco loco on top of the seed shell.And I forgot that I also put them between paper towels until the taproot is about a quarter inch.

Thanks,for 10 years I only had maybe 2 that damped off and now my seedlings grow about 3 inches and start becoming droopy and the roots don’t fill out.And I am not over or under watering them.

I have read where a little cinnamon around the base of the seedling will protect against damping off

Sorry, late to the party. Hey, VegaMan I've been having the same problem and it's driving me nuts! All of a sudden my sprouting tap roots are curling on themselves whether in the medium (coco) or filter paper. At first I thought it was depth or seed orientation during planting but neither really made a difference. Started letting the new sprouts grow their radicle a bit longer but still got curlers. Maybe genetics? Yes, maybe but other genetics are doing it too........ The mystery continues, I need to see if temperature is the cause because it was the only parameter that was slightly higher than "normal"?
