Hi everyone! I just signed up.

I'm uploading a picture I took of my very first plant on my very first grow. I wanted to ask for some opinions on what I can do to help my plant along. I am open to suggestions for very small single plant grow setups right now. My current setup is pretty ghetto but it seems to have been enough for now. Can anyone give me some tips on what I should be doing next? I don't want a huge plant but I do want a decent harvest. Anything I have said here is not set in stone and I am open to suggestions. Thank you. :)

Welcome! It looks like you are already training it to get more colas, so kudos on that. Just soak up information from all the different topics that GWE has about nutrients, watering and light cycle changes and you will be on the right track. If you are on a tight budget, start with a really good soil rich in nutrients and you won't have to spend a ton of money on that. In addition to the training you are doing, you may want to top plant to force even more lower growth and colas. GWE has a topic on literally everything. Good luck to you!
 
Looks good so far! If you're using CFLs you can actually keep the bulbs closer, within a few inches as long as it's not too hot if you leave your hand where the plant is for 30 seconds. Just be careful because plants can grow really fast once they get going, and it's easy to let them grow into the light and get burned! The single CFL is okay for now, but you'll want more if you want to grow the plant much bigger, and by the flowering stage for sure. The amount of bud you get in the flowering stage is definitely related to how much light you give (since light = energy = buds) so you want to give as much light as possible when the plant is making buds.

Looks like you've already started plant training, which is awesome! If I could make one suggestion it would be to tie your plant to the pot instead of something in the grow room. That way you can pick up the plant and move it around independently if you need to. Also, string will work to start, but it's kind of "sharp" and can start to cut into your plant's skin over time. Because of that, a lot of growers like to use soft coated wire or twisty tie for training, since it's easy on your plant but still firm like wire.

Overall your plant looks really healthy, which shows you've been doing a great job so far!

I completely agree with Nebula, string is no good. If you can't find the soft wire she suggests, I have found that #14 electrical wire works great. The insulation is smooth, it's just stiff enough to easily form a shepherd's hook, can be found at any hardware store and it's cheap.

Hi everyone. I'm really sorry for the long reply from me but I have had much success with this plant so far. As for the strain, I don't know. I found a seed one day and decided to plant it and see how it turns out.

Also, I realize that you all had advised against the string but I gave up on training it because of the lack of room. I still think it looks nice though.

I would like to know if you got those results from the single CFL shown at the beginning of the thread. I would say she is beautiful but I don't know much. Best of luck to you!
 
I did not use only a single cfl. I changed to 2 100 watt led daylight bulbs. That is what they are getting right now. I got more light not too long after that first picture.
