Curious about inorganic growing

Hello! I'm a bit curious about the types of media (rock wool from Grodan, coco coir, etc) available to grow Marijuana, so I have a few questions!
  1. What type of growing media do you use and why?
  2. For Grodan's products or other types of rock/mineral wool, what issues have you come across?
  3. How do you dispose the growing media when you’re done?
  4. If you use mineral wool, what percentage of your cost goes into buying mineral wool
Hoping to hear from someone!

Howdy Ganjanewbie, Welcome to the forum. Here is my 'slant' on growing;
1. I have been using the 1 1/2 inch square rockwool cubes for my sprouts and set them in the net pots (3 3/4 inch size) with the clay pebbles.
2. the only issues that I have had has been that the cubes do 'wick' up the moisture and algae can start to grow on the tops, so I keep them covered with aluminum foil (with a small hole in it for the sprout).
3. I throw out the cubes (in the trash) but I wash (with plain water, no soap or bleach) and rinse the clay pebbles, then I bake them dry (also to sterilize them) in the oven at 300° F.
6. I do not know a specific cost per grow, but it is small compared to the other costs.
I hope that this helps You out.
