I was cleaning a bud from my drying Ghost Train Haze to see about how many viable seeds I could expect when I clean the rest of the bud. I got over a dozen good ones plus this freak:
It appears two seeds grew together in the same bract!
Here's a couple more views:
Anybody out there ever see...
I've got some Purple Haze about to be chopped that is the only PH that's ever turned purple for me. I grew it in coco under a T5 panel with two LED replacement tubes. It did see some temps in the 50s (F) about a month or so ago.
A while back I asked how to tell when seeds were ready. Now I know! My Ghost Train Haze was dropping seeds on the tent floor this afternoon when I went to check pH. I am now in the black on Project Psychonaut! I gathered more than two dozen seeds just from shaking the stems where the ripest buds...
Here's another try at getting the purple to show. Weirdly enough, every shot I try to take ends up with the purple part out of focus! You can see it better in the bud at bottom left that in the center.
I've been growing Purple Haze as long as I've been growing and this is the first time I've gotten any purpling! This was three days ago - newer pictures would show much more purple on almost every bud. This was taken while I was giving it a flush with pHed water.
This girl was started as seed in...
Week 5 of flower is coming along. It's a bit hard to tell where stigmas are turning orange because of pollination or from age. The buds that only got a few flowers pollinated may be closest to the weed I remember from about 1990. The girl in coco is almost totally pollinated from standing next...
Week 6 of flower, likely two weeks to go!
The boys are gone and I can work in here without sneezing! Seeds continue to strain their bracts and it isn't hard to find one where the seeds are splitting the bracts. The fertilization was so complete that even some preflowers actually produced seed...
I've got enough books on the subject of breeding but they don't quite get around to answering this question, so I'm asking y'all: When you're growing for seed production, do you harvest according to trichomes or is there a better way? I'd hate to cut the girls in Psychonaut down too early and be...
This is for those considering building their own RDWC system. In the grow journal posts I tend to leave out the mundane stuff but sometimes its helpful for me when someone does go ahead and detail the nuts and bolts of making something work. This is the setup being used for Project Psychonaut...
I'm at a point in veg where I would normally top my plants, but my two hydro grows are for seeded bud. Is it better to top or let them grow out normally? I'm at a place where I still have no clue how many males/females I have. The goal is to fill a Mason jar each full of seeds for future Ghost...
The new project for the big tent is now on week 0 of veg! I'm growing six Ghost Train Haze regs out for more seed. GTH has been a favorite of mine since I bought an ounce in Colorado. It's the only time I think I ever impressed a budtender there. I started eight seeds and I now have eight GTH...
Week 0 of veg! This will be a four-plant grow of Skunk #1 regs for seed and for curiosity. I first tried Skunk #1 about 1990 and of course it was not sinsemilla. I wanted to revisit Skunk legally and try my hand at producing seed - on purpose. I'm curious to see if the finished product will...
I will be putting this advice in my grow journal for both grows that ended today but I thought I'd post this separately too. Seven of the eight plants involved in these grows came from being rooted in coco then moved into hydro. A Blueberry was the first transferred. She was going to be a mother...
Week 10 is happening after deciding that none of these girls are getting cut before time. AG is likely good enough to go, LB is not far behind. Purple Haze has just too many glassy trichs going on. Next weekend will be interesting cutting down seven plants of four varieties in one weekend. I...

Sweet Zombie at week 10 is slowly maturing. I had hoped it would finish at the same time as the ones in the other tent. I may have to wait another week for her and the Purple Hazes to chop. I wish I could've had this grow to full size. Two or three grams will be a nice sample, I guess. The...
Week 9 began Sunday. It's amazing how I never realized how fast the stigmas were turning orange until the weekend when I got to see the girls in natural light instead of green light. They seem to have stopped hogging nutes which is fortunate because some long days at work kept me from checking...
I'm likely going to be forced off Aurora Soul because of distribution issues. A new grow shop opened about a mile away. Unfortunately, they won't be stocking Aurora. The guy working there recommended I try Cutting Edge Solutions (which sounds more like a name for some kind of cheesy consulting...
Sweet Zombie enters week 9 looking good considering. I sampled the smell from a sugar leaf. They were not kidding when they say it smells something like prunes! She is just starting to ripen and I hope to chop in a week or two. The lower humidity and cooler temps will help with that.
I've...
