    Question on Boveda packs 62%

Had a question on the Boveda packs for storing marijuana in mason jars. Once you harvest and then hang dry your cannabis, do you just put the pack in the jar and it magically cures the bud? Do you still need to burp it? Hoping to find people that have used these and how they went about it. Thankss!!!!

I use them after the first week of cure for a week, after that I pull them. You still have to burp them to exchange the air the first few weeks. How I was taught anyways

So you don't lave them in? Isn't that the point of the packs to get the jar to keep the 62% for longer? Just curious

I use them for long term storage. I go through the curing process for 3-4 weeks. Then they get sealed with Boveda's until ready to consume. I don't believe there is a wrong way to use them.

Actually NebulaHaze has an article written on this in which she points out the very things you'll find if you try to use them to dry your bud... they won't work the way you hope and it will expire the Boveda packets very quickly as well... You need to dry the bud, cure the bud and then afterwards after its cured then add the Boveda for long term storage... why? Simply put because if you do it to dry the bud, the bud will run into humidity issues because the Boveda doesn't pull the humidity out fast enough from the buds. During the cure you need the cannabis to lose water for some acid to change into another chemical compound by losing the water molecule which is when bud go from being okay, to the points it gets amazing... if you use the Boveda during this time it will cause the bud to slow this process of change way down to a crawl. I did an experiment where I cured the bud all from one plant differently and people swore it was all different strains from different plants until faced with the facts I cured it all differently accordingly to what I learned from Nebula Haze's articles on the main GWE site. Look under Drying & Curing over there... its the best information I've ever found anywhere on this subject and try it for yourself she really knows her stuff.
The only way to become the a good at anything is to read about it and learn all you can about it, and if it's something you love why not become an expert in it? The best place for anyone to start is at the beginning and make sure we didn't overlook anything, so let's go back to the basics.

tommyfade Welcome to the forum! And just to add my two cents worth to all the excellent info above:

I also cure for a few weeks, trying to SLOWLY get the RH in the jars down to around 60% before I put the bovedas in. I use hygrometers in the jars. I want my buds to be around 67-65% RH when I first jar them, and I want to bring them down to 59-60 ideally over an extended period of time. I haven't kept good journal notes about how long before I put in the bovedas, but I think it was at least a month or more of daily burping the jars. After I put in the bovedas, I will continue to open and close jars to let some fresh air in like once a week. I do that for quite a few weeks as well, checking the aroma and making sure the buds are behaving themselves.
