    Is this Normal?

Today I notice one plant started stretching again. (Well I think stretching would be the proper term.) The strain is Recon and is about 7.5 weeks into flower. It is already very noticeably taller than the rest of the room and other strains. What I'm referring to in the pictures is where you can see a long stem with another small bud coming out the larger bud. I plan on harvesting at the end of the 8 weeks plus a 3 day flush, so roughly around 60 days. If this is normal should I maybe extend the flower period to let everything fully bloom? Or should I be concerned?

I'd say keep it so it can really fatten up, the rest of the plant below that node should also be left(looking a little airy) I may be closer to week 9-10 that they'll really put some weight on.

its all up to you as the grower though, do what you feel is best for YOUR harvest
    Grow and good luck

Just had the same thing happen to a Northern Light -- I have 2, both did their first stretch, the one started to make some nice buds, the other stalled on the buds and then grew like 6 more inches -- it is filling in -- and I will wait to see what happens. I'm hoping that the plant decided to stretch again as to give it some more room to grow bigger buds for me, lol.

      Very similar to yours.

I was just looking and most of the strains are good from 8 to 10 weeks. I'll start monitoring them more and start cutting back on nutes and push towards a flush at the end of week 9. It's just that I haven't seen that growth like that happen so late.

Skeet, you should plan to harvest when your trichomes tell you they're ready. Your pistils all look white, so I wouldn't think that you're that close to harvest. Or is that just the case with this late-blooming bud? What do the other colas look like?

I see at least two different strains described on the internet: recon and reCon. Recon is described as sativa dominant, and reCon looks like it's indica dominant. Do you know which one you have, and do you know how to get closeup pics of the trichomes?

Yeah, those pistils are still white and sticking out pretty straight. I'd agree you have a way to go. Lots of space between those internodes as well. How much distance is there between your canopy and the light and how powerful is the light...or lights? Maybe the light isn't providing what the plant really needs? Was there an incidence of photoperiod interruption_ like lights getting turned on when they shouldn't have....or light leaks? That can cause plants to revert back to ..veg stage, and then go back into flowering....delaying harvest time. The plant is likely stressed in some way. Keeping fingers crossed for you! Check out the tutorial on Light/heat stress....that can cause weird growth on your buds too.

alltatup I have another post up I'll tag you in so you can see the rest of the room. I'm not sure but I'll have to guess it's the Recon Sativa. And I'm in the process of getting something to inspect trichomes

That's what I would guess, too!!! I still think you have a little more time to get those pistils darkening up, no? Sativa takes longer...

If you have an iphone, there's a great app that lets you get real up close and personal to your plants: it's called Super Vision + Magnifier and it lets you save pics, freeze frame, zoom in, etc.
