new to this form of communication. just finished harvest of first LED grow (8 plants )after 2 years of HPS and celebrated by making butter balls for cookies from previous grows. OG Kush & Ice.

I'm such a noob. I never heard of this before. Do you have to make hash to make butter balls? Really cool!

These are just the cheese cloth left from straining & squeezing out the butter that was being infused with cannabis.
Yes butter can be infused with hash. I use the butter for cookies.

Oh Thank you for that - shocking fact!! I am still poking around trying to figure out the operation of a forum- this being my first. Like you I have only lurked . My heart goes out to all noobies ( I continue to be one) who make the effort to ask questions and value the seasoned souls who contribute their information. GWE is by far the most cohesive web site available. Nested and embedded with concrete and vital information. I home the forum continues to be a good community of people growing strong.

I looked up a 'budder' recipe today. It seems easy and straight forward. Recipe called for an ounce of herb to 4 sticks of butter. I think I will experiment with 1/4 oz and 1 stick of butter. I sure would hate to ruin an entire ounce if things go wrong.

Remember to cook slowly without burning ( if using crock pot) the decarb process in slow cooking is also dependent on how old the bud is (properly stored). I make literally "butt ugly " cookies. Basic sugar cookie recipe with required 1 lb budder. Often I do up to 2 oz of bud and add a tad bit more unsalted butter as it does cook down . Therefore I can only eat 1/4 cookie. If you add chocolate chips it lowers the over all effect.
I burnt part of my last batch watching the debate...still work. Butt Ugly Boobie Biscotti Nothing fancy. Will post an image if I can figure it out

Used to do fancy ones, different favors, now just sticking to basic ( un burned) sugar cookie . Slow cook the budder to get the most out of your product ( hopefully bud).

Tika, I have a few questions. Hopefully you'll peek inside thread and see this post.

I don't know how strong your butter recipe is, but how would equate a serving. For instance, is one tablespoon equally to say 4 joint puffs. I posted above the recipe I found and am going to try. So I guess what I want to know is this. Would one tablespoon of the butter be equal to one, two or whatever puffs on a joint. Because not using enough would basically be a waste, and using too much could put you out flat.

I cannot see how one can measure puffs by tbs unless one had their weed tested at a lab for a general idea of THC in so many buds and then the lab tells you how much weed to use per cookie (so I hear). I just wing it . I think the main thing is not to over or under decarb. Yes I agree- risk of too much or too little on both accounts. Mine are very good night timers 1/4 of a 1.5" x under 1/4" round does it for me (baked- me and the cookie). I am going to find where you put your recipe ..can't find it yet. In short how good is the cannabis?
Personally I like tinctures which are easier to titrate, effect comes on sooner, and is sublingual . Can be added to tea but then becomes edibles.
