What's a better way to take pictures of nugs?

Just curious. I feel like I have a decent grasp on taking good pictures of cannabis trichomes and buds. But after harvest when I try to take pictures of the nugs, they always look washed out, and not crisp.

Example: These are pictures of the same bud in different light.

I feel like it looks so much more dank in person.

In the pics, it looks like it's all dry and crumbly but it's actually really dense and oily. Plus the buds are 50% purple with your eyes, but when I try to take pictures it looks almost like it's all green and tan.

The purple barely comes through at all in the pictures.

What strategies do you use to get really nice pictures of your homegrown weed? Do I just need to get a better phone camera?

I haven't taken many pics of cured nugs but growing and trimmed nugs look better to me with little to no light and just the camera flash. Really highlights the frost.

ID:	664022Really good pics come about from growing awesome buds.
The sparkly effect from low humidity around 40% will give you the most trichomes for that effect and the camera flash will help. The top two pics are with lights on the bottom two lights off.
Excessive trichomes will also cause the sugar leaves and sometimes larger leaves to cup or taco. Proof of a wicked grow that cannot be replecated with camera tricks.Click image for larger version
