When weed becomes federally legal, it becomes federally taxed and regulated. My community already pays over 30%. I would rather keep on not breaking the laws there are that make weed accessible than pay more fucking taxes for nothing. California is the fifth largest economy in the world... without the 15% excise tax and 8.75% sales tax.
I'm getting steamed. Better stop before I get nasty and talk about how locals pay tourist prices.
Where'n my humble plot of land on a wooded mountain where nobody'n drop a tax on me? Woe, woe, where'n my humble plot of land?

      Hi, Smallgrow.
      Thanks for the kind post.
Yes, the demented, orange toddler rescheduled marijuana from Class 1 to Class 3 of the US Controlled Substances Act.
I live in a legal state (Arizona - five years), so not a big personal change.
The BIG effect is lifting tax restrictions for cannabis businesses. They were prohibited from deducting normal business expenses under US Code 26 Section 280e. Now, they can deduct wages, rent, etc. just like a "regular" company.

When rumored last week, cannabis company stocks rose 30-40%. The prices have since retreated. I would fully expect prices of cannabis products to become less expensive.

Politics. Usually not a good social discussion unless everyone is on your side or you want to fight. Glad to see America is coming to it's senses.

Allotrope1000 about weed becoming less expensive.
Federal prohibition has never had anything to do with the price of weed. In my time, the price of weed has always been based on quality. Brick weed has always been the same price and sandwich bag weed has always been the same price. Only when state prohibition eased were we open to get that sandwich bag weed in a store for the same price, taxed, or get something of a lesser quality for cheaper. Prices didn't go down, options went up and were priced accordingly. At this point, the options of what you can buy are pretty much tapped out.
Making weed federally legal will do nothing to help our poor, unfortunate outlaws under state prohibition. And state legal doesn't mean city legal. And city legal doesn't mean local legal. Our rich communities do not allow dispensaries, but they allow delivery.
Now that medical research is opening up, ponder, maybe, is it possible that if some pharma company says they're going to start selling OTC THC products, dispensaries will have to close because someone put out new regulations for un-dosed, un-tested drugs? When a thing is corporatized it become more expensive. Once you start altering the basics, it becomes more expensive. Maybe, perhaps, weed products will hit your corporate drug store shelves and dispensaries will be considered holistic or eastern medicine? And that's another thing. When you start calling something a medicine or religion, shit gets nuts.
In my opinion, if laws are involved in weed, they need to be on a state level. Federal regulation means federal regulation and taxes. They're going to put their laws on top of state laws on top of local laws... and taxes.
We got's to pay to be regulated, friend.
I'm pretty well lit. If any of that doesn't make sense, that's okay.

We are a meat bag made of water, protein, and fat, fueled by old stored fusion energy, holding an electrical spark, hung on a skeleton made of star dust, sitting on a rock, flying through space in a fractal pattern derived from chaos, and no idea where we are heading. FEAR NOTHING.
