Hey everyone. I'm new here. I'm not new to growing but I might as well be because tech that has evolved so much since my last harvest (15 years ago) that everything except water is new to me. There is so much I never knew about growing that seems so important now, that I'm actually surprised I ever made it to harvest! The only knowledge I had came from a loaned paperback copy of Jason King's Cannabible and tips from a couple of the employees at interior gardens (who weren't allowed to actually talk about cannabis). I had many years of such good luck that I'm starting to think that not knowing about most of the problems that can arise from seed to harvest somehow magically made them not exist. Except spider mites. Those little fuckers exist and the magic of ignorance is definitely no match for them.
I quit growing because I had too many close calls with the cops and landlords. And to be honest, they weren't what really scared me. I remember thinking that if the door got kicked in, I would hope it was the police and not somebody else trying to rob me at gunpoint. Staying one step ahead of these opposing forces was stressful and sometimes meant uprooting my home-made ebb and flow tables, transporting mother's and clones to a safe house, and tearing down my setup overnight. The last time that happened, I decided I was done. I stored my gear in my mom's attic and gave away my genetics.
I told myself that the day I bought a house of my own, I would start growing again. On August 1st of this year I bought my first house. I wasted no time at all. I got my grow room set up before I got my bedroom set up. All my gear was still in my mom's attic where I left it but it is all obsolete. I have to keep a low plant count in Minnesota to stay legal so I can't do my favorite method of sea of green in ebb and flow tables. Sticking with hydro, I decided to go with the deep water culture system from Spider Farmer. My HPS and metal halide lights are now a thing of the past and LEDs have taken over so I picked up the 750 Diablo ES from Horticulture Lighting Group. I benched my loud vortex fans and got quiet exhaust fans from AC Infinity. I also got their smallest humidifier ( I wish I chose the bigger T7 option. Filling this thing is already getting old), and oscillating fans because they all plug into the controller 69 pro. All of which either fits in or around my 5x5 tent that is currently home to 4 happy Green Crack plants just starting week 2 of flower.
Anyway.... I'm sure I'll have some questions coming up real soon so I'm glad I have all of you amazing people here to back me up when I need help. That is something I've never had in the past. Thanks in advance for your future help using my new gear, implementing new techniques, and running a dwc system.
I hope I haven't bored you with my story but I wanted to tell it.
I look forward to making some friends here,
Dave Blank

It's still a work in progress and still learning.
It keeps this old fart happily stoned every evening before lights out.
