We just harvested four plants, and unfortunately we lost one of them entirely to rot. Days earlier, there were no signs of rot. But when we started chopping branches off, every bud had infestations. I was just wondering if losing the entire plant is an unusual occurrence or not.

Does rot/mold usually compromise the entire plant?

Mold and BR get started by mold spores. These spores are everywhere. The spores can not be seen with they human eye and are only evident when the spores grow. When environmental conditions are right, the spores grow into a mold colony. The colony produces more spores and so on. If you have mold on one part of the plant, the rest of the plant is at increased risk of developing more infections by the fact that they have been exposed to the spores from the original colony. So it is a numbers and odds game that is being played. This is why it is important to cut anything that is suspect immediately, and dispose of it away from the plants. Wash your hands and cutters also.Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.
