Read up on Rodelization process: By extending the flowering phase, some female plants experience stress and may develop male flowers (a condition known as hermaphroditism). The pollen from these male flowers can then be used to pollinate another female plant, resulting in seeds that are predominantly female.

The older it gets without being pollinated the more chance it will hermie.
