    Hermed plants and seeds

Is it possible to have hermed plants that do not pollinate themselves?

    #2
I found several of these at the nodes on both of the plants I have in my tent. They are both just about two weeks away from harvest. It’s hard to tell but I don’t think I see any seeds forming in the buds. They actually look really awesome

Anything is possible just not likely. That looks like a seed, rip it open is there a seed in it?

There aren’t any seeds inside the little balls, doesn’t even look like the beginning of a seed. I looked at a dried and cured bud from my last harvest and it looks like that plant had the same little ball at one of the nodes. It was dried but looked basically the same. I didn’t find a single seed in that harvest

I’ve been looking over the plants carefully every day and pulling off any little balls I can find. I’ve been looking at the buds trying to see signs that seeds are forming but it’s difficult to tell. I used to get shwag weed in ohio back in the ‘80s and the seeds were always buried inside the buds, I never have seen them forming in solitude just sticking out from the stem

If it has no seed started inside it's just a fat lady part.

That’s what I was thinking! This is only the second grow for me and I’m wondering if I’ve misidentified this little ball thing. The ones I’ve found have mostly been right at the base of a bud, only a couple of them were at the nodes. I’m starting to think that the thing in the picture is just a “proto-bud” like the earliest expression of the female part. I’m watching them closely, these plants are each unique. I have two growing and one has really purple flowers and the other one has green flowers. The seeds both came out of the same package

That is a calyx, a female part. All good.

If I get "balls" at the nodes these tend to be a male plant and start to develop long before the females flower.

Hermies, although I haven't really seen many, tend to grow "balls" on the buds and not at the nodes.

That's my experience although it's limited regarding hermies.

Ive never had really seedy buds unless I pollinated them although I have had random and unexplained seeds in bud, from 1 seed to an entire plant to a few dozen. All seeds have been well developed but I tend not to grow from them unless Im in strife with my own supply.

Ive also had plants germinate from pots I havent sewn seed into, but only a few.
