    Should I be concerned?

My 2023 harvest is kept in Mason jars on the floor of my closet where it is about 5 degrees cooler than the room. I keep the doors closed so the closet stays darkened. I checked on my medicine and noticed that in some of my jars when I opened them the lid kind of popped like a champegn cork only much less forcefully. No observable mold growth and no off odors. Just wonderful terpenes. The herb is very potent. I hope it is not decomposing! I hang dried it for over a week, not jarring until small stems snapped. Burped cured for about 6 weeks. Jars were clean when the herb was put up.

Has anyone else had this happen and is this a common occurance?

If the odour is fine I wouldn't worry. Lids popping like that is quite normal if the internal jar temp has dropped significantly since jarring. I get that with the ones in my cold room. It's an effective vacuum seal and they will last much longer, which is great.

It it fine. The jar just had a good airtight seal. I also love Boveda humidity packs for keeping your medicine fresh!
