    Outdoor Defoliation Experiment

As part of my 6th outdoor grow attempt in the Great White North, I thought I’d try a defol experiment. I think most of us will acknowledge the benefits of defol when growing indoors, but there appears to be some debate when it comes to growing outdoors. It’s been a question I’ve wanted to address for some time now. I’ve thrown out plenty of weed over the last 5 years due to WPM, but rot, bugs, and immaturity.

long story short: thought I bought Nothern Lights auto seeds. Had some mates in jars before this one even began to flower indoors. In a 3 gal fabric pot, HP Promix, GH trio for jute’s, Calmag and Ancient Earth as supplements, under TS 1000 lights.

Moved outdoors into 25 Gallon half barrel on 31 May. Went into flower about a week later, so now about 5 weeks in. Did two defol sessions so far, but still seems bushy to me. Buds stacking with impressive density. Would like to do as much as I can to take this girl to the finish, and I’m paranoid for the reasons I mentioned.

So I selected two adjacent colas of the same size shape, and symmetry. Constants include plant, environmental conditions, fertigation, etc. Trying to limit the variables to one: defoliation. I’ll be monitoring primarily bud growth, the appearance of problems, and the general health of the entire cola. Certainly can see the buds on the defoliated one … I was pretty ruthless in my efforts.

    Will provide updates when noteworthy.

enjoy the pics … thanks for taking a gander (ask a Canuck)

as always, constructive criticism and suggestions most welcome and appreciated

    Noteworthy update!
    Experiment aborted … she re-vegged!
Now wtf to do with all those single point leaves with 3 inch stems?
