    Decarb talk

Today's drug experiment got me thinking... after the nap. It is the first time I have ever felt compelled to take a nap after using weed.
The product was honey-butter I made with resin. I ate the same amount I had been eating from my last batch (A), which was also my first resin edible. This batch (B) has a bit more resin, but not enough to put me to sleep?
I set my oven to 250°. The oven thermometer said 225°. My laser thermometer said the resin stayed between 230° and 235°
The only other difference I can think of is cooking time. This B went 5 minutes longer than A. There is a visual difference when decarbing resin. When the decarb is happening, the resin melts and bubbles. When everything is done, the bubbling stops. A had a little action going on but B was pretty much good and flat when it got pulled out.
I have made successful cannabutter and am not a fan. The smell and mess of it are off putting. The taste is nasty. And it has too much water to make for a decent cooking butter.
Decarbing resin and making butter happens in a jar big enough to hold the gram and however much butter you want to melt, plus a little room in case you slosh when stirring. There is a smell if you hang around the oven. One gram of my resin in 4 tablespoons of butter leaves a firm butter with little aftertaste.
I've been thinking about making kief-butter but maybe think I might not. I don't know.
Decarbing kief is pretty much just like decarbing flower but without the extra leaf. I can pop my kief in the oven and have to trust it hits temperature in the allotted time. It will smell. And it will leave a taste and gritty, but firm textured butter.
Could a thing be to dissolve kief in alcohol to make a resin? Filter out residual waxes and particulates?
We have about 10 weeks to figure this out. I could forego my current extraction method in-lieu of making a winterized kief resin.
    Dab, you fool!

I have not used solvents. I put wet trim in a oven bag in the oven at 250F. For about 40 min.

    Works good for me.

Yes, making canna butter stinks out the house if doing it indoors but I've never had a problem with too much water. The butter has always fully separated when left to stand and cool. I have done it in both the fridge and freezer, fridge works best as a bit too much and no ice to deal with.

For me the simplest way to do edibles is to just decarb
some flower, grind it to a powder, and fill some capsules.
These particular ones were too strong and kept me high
        for over 8 hours.

I'm with crucialbunny on this one. Ground weed in capsule's is by far the easiest and least mess of any edible. A lot goes to waste with canna butter and edibles. If you have a problem with capsules, make a strong tincture.
