2 days post tangie-top and tuck - things looking good! Ph 6.5 VPD 0.9 Ppfd 550
They seem to be smiling.
Those fan leaves are phat! I may need to trim off the shadey ones in a couple of weeks while in stretch if I can’t get the lst bending around them.

Very nice. Blue dramatic is a fave of mine from fast buds. I think you will find the net not really necessary for most autos.keeping it green with the soil thing

thanks Going2fast! I find the net helps me keep the canopy flat, but yeah I can see that it may be overkill for autos. I actually wasn’t sure I should do it this time and hesitated, but I did it last time and I think it helped hold the bending so I was too scared not to. I might not do it next round, but I’ll just have judge the plants. I also topped the apical dominance this time (didn’t do it last time). I know thats also controversial but I read Nebula say she might do it after her first auto grow. So I went for it. The plants were heathy so figured I go for it. Seemed to have worked fine. Now I’m semi nervous about the larf trim I plan in week 9.
All in all though I’m experimenting and learning what to and what not to do. Sometimes I feel like Japanese Bonzai guy - manipulating nature to my vision and hoping I know whats best for them. Of course I’m listening to them and also considering your and the other experienced growers on here’s advice. Again, Thank you. I really appreciate it.

5 weeks 3 days beginning flower.
Not sure about the lighter green tips and new growth with a little twist and thinner leaves.
This happened last grow and buds came out a little more airy but good. They are otherwise very healthy with about 8-10 weeks to go.
Could this be a deficiency of some kind? Ph is 6.3-6.7.
Don’t think it’s genetic because it looks similar to my last grow that was a different strain.3 PhotosLast edited by ezmaarc; 02-07-2024, 01:31 AM.Current Grow - 5 Tangie-matics from FastBuds

Week 6, day 3.
Flowering off to a decent start. Ph has been great, but now trying to keep the temp and rh from big swings. T#1 is very heathy, but slower than others. Got a calcium deficiency starting on T#3 & T#5. Flushed, then added some heavy CalMag with 6.8 water (Read somewhere that calcium is better absorbed on the higher end of the ph spectrum). I realize that all my wondering about light and thin twisty new growth is probably calcium issues from me using RO water with regular calmag schedule. Inert. Gonna increase calmag a bit in future.
Anyhoo, Gonna watch them like a hawk this week. I’ll get through it. I love them.1 PhotoLast edited by ezmaarc; 02-14-2024, 12:57 AM.Current Grow - 5 Tangie-matics from FastBuds

Week 6, day 6. Growing and learning. Nice big drink yesterday got them kicked into gear. They are thirsty. Next drink will be straight water with full CalMag. Soil Ph range is 5.6 - 6.6. Still dealing with a higher rh than I want at around 58% even with my dehumidifier..though its dinky. Temps are also a little high at 78 but I’m working on it. Not too much smell yet.Current Grow - 5 Tangie-matics from FastBuds

Week 7 day 4. Coming along swimmingly. Been a little humid so I may need a dehumidifier. Gonna start a post on recommendations.
Today they are getting a little dry but I think I’ll wait until tomorrow eve to give them a good soak. I’ll check in the AM and determine. They all seemed to take well to the defoliation, scrogging and whatnot, but with a fan going under the canopy and oscillator on top I’m doing ok with the humidity. Very soon I need to really get the humidity down.
What I’ve learned so far this grow is that I feel good about my progress as a grower, but really need to take it up a notch on my next grow scheduled for late April. EC meter might be in order since I have little deficiency and nute burn going on at the same time. No more Mr. Willy Nilly on the feed regiment…and more perlite…and mix in a ph buffer…damn low ph after watering; and maybe try GH instead of FF once my nutes run out. Oh, and CalMag every water…and bend em earlier like SoOrbudgal did.Current Grow - 5 Tangie-matics from FastBuds

Week 8 Day 2
Did a little defol on some of the dying leaves under the canopy. Gave em a 1/2 dose of bloom and kelp, cal mag… in PH 6.5
Not sure why after I feed the soil PH drops so much. It seems to bounce back in two days, but I gotta figure out a way to control that. Lime buffer I guess in next grow material. Just gotta keep an eye on them (again) and be prepared for a neutral flush…sigh…but still happy . Should be fine. I respect em and am trying to treat them well.Current Grow - 5 Tangie-matics from FastBuds

Week 9 Day 2 (about 5 weeks into flower).
Everything going decently.
“Day” temps:
Temp: 75
RH: 56
VPD: 1.28
DLI: 47
PPFD: 1050
PH range:6.2-6.8
Gotta start getting that RH down as the buds are fattening to keep any mold away as they mature.
Soil still has a slight bit of moisture so I reckon I’ll water in a couple of days or just keep an eye on that their smiling leaves don’t turn to frowns. Canopy is still pretty thick but leaves keep degrading underneath so I’m defoliating those to keep their energy moving upward. T1 and T3 in the back corners are moving slower than the others, but they’re taller. Might rotate angling the light slightly. But we’ll see.
Smelling like tangerines. Yep.

Week 9 day 6.
Whelp, Nute burn and what looks to be continuing cal deficiency(?) on T3. Makes me a little sad but she’ll pull through one way or another. I guess I’m a little heavy handed. I’m guessing I’m still about 3-4 weeks out. Maybe 5 weeks or slightly more on T1. I’m guessing that my soil is loaded so I should relax on the nutes and just water woth cal/mag for a few weeks. Maybe the rest of the way? Not exactly how I’d hope this would go, but life is never a straight line.Current Grow - 5 Tangie-matics from FastBuds

Definitely nute burn on the lower leaves but some of those sugars look worrying. Hopefully nute burn but mine go like that on my sativas first sign of mould, more dark red than brown blotches. Fingers crossed.
I'd do the same re nute management.
-
When it comes to nutes in flower less is more. On veg I feed up to 1200ppm. In flower I don't go higher than 1000ppm.
