Is My Water Good Enough ?

So my water before going into my water softener is at 8.4 PH and 183 PPM at 500 scale. Should I use this water for Hydro or would I be better off installing a RO system. I have installed PEX through out my house so adding it is not a big deal and if I need to add Cal-Mag at every fill I have no problem with that as well. I just wonder if losing some of the good stuff in the water is better or worse. By the way I have city water and the chorine is at 4.0 PPM

My plan was to take the water before the water softener and let it sit for a day to remove the chlorine and then PH down before using it in my hydro. Right now I am waiting on a plumber to fix a small leak at the meter before I start sitting up everything. My tent will make it hard to get back to the meter when its setup.

The PH down is likely an acid so no need to wait it will kill the chlorine.

Take it before you soften it with salt....But keep in mind when ones water is hard it takes away from the nutrients...for example if your target E.C is 1.3 and you are starting off with say .8 before you mix anything it could be causing problems.. when one uses RO water you get the full benefit of the nutes.

I was having issue with my h.w as well and eventually purchased a small table top ro system,,it is more consistent.
