    Bee-like creature.

Found this little one on the roots of a seedling. At 1/32" it's probably not a bee. Anyone familiar? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks. -ggl Click image for larger version

Hmm looks alot like the ground wasps or bee? We'd get them at salmon fishing camp they'd eat the flesh as we'd fillet the fish, nasty stings too.

We call 'em yellow jackets, nest in-ground, eat meat and sting like hell. I parked a running lawn mower on top of a nest and let it run outa gas, then piled brush on top and burned it (removed the mower first).

Sounds like a European Wasp but they go to about an inch long...the queens a bit over. Nasty bastards. Build paper nests like a football, mostly underground.
Best way I found to get rid of them is with mince chicken laced with a tiny amount of Fipronil but you have to be careful with that stuff, it kills everything.
