When an LED bulb gives out it simply just stops working, as it no light comes out of it at all, as far as I understand it up to that point they are 100% working and good they never slowly wear out like am MH or HPS because they lack the filament. LED's seriously are suppose to last something like 5-8 years of use.
The only way to become the a good at anything is to read about it and learn all you can about it, and if it's something you love why not become an expert in it? The best place for anyone to start is at the beginning and make sure we didn't overlook anything, so let's go back to the basics.

Oh, good for you, upgrading. I'm upgrading too and would love to try an lec but I can't deal with the heat so I'm gonna drop a good chunk of $ on a new led. Can't wait to see what you grow with all those lights! Good luck!

Wait up red! Most of the heat comes out of the unattached ballast, it's kinda crazy! Cooks your skin like a motherfucker but not much heat, just a crap load of uvs. I'm not sure it gives out more heat than the leds to be honest

No kidding? That's very interesting. I'll do some reading on them today and see if maybe an lec is the way to go for me. I thought they put off a lot of heat so I hadn't even considered one or ever checked into them. Thanks Lucky
