I feel your pain with room temps. but it is getting better daily. I've lived in similar conditions very cold to me as i got older i had to turn up the heat. For 30+yrs all we had was a wood stove and a 2 story house, you could see our breath from under the covers but we were young and hearty.

Tell ye what? I fuckin' folded, last night! Re Lit the 'wood' stove! God! It was Magnificent!!! I just couldn't Take another day and night barely over 50F. It was getting fucking Depressing! I was barely even thinking properly any more! Seriously!

73F. I had my bod warmer off and I was chattering my head off, on the internet. Not chattering my gums in this bloody ice box!

Finally figured out ~ in a rare moment of lucidity ~ because approaching hypothermia screws with lucidity! ~ that I'd be better off burning All the fuel I have left. And being warm. Rather than sitting on it, like some latter day Scrooge. Only to be found, dead of cold; With a small stock pile of perfectly good fuel!

Sparking that bad boy up again, tonight! Pension's just been paid. Live It!!!

Ye right though. Saw a Blow Fly! Twice! Sunday and Monday. God alone knows what woke them up. Maybe came in here to see if I'm dead yet. Or if I'm just saving shower electricity

Are you saying that your living environment stays in the 50's? I haven't had to put up with anything like that since I was a kid. Nothing like coming home from school to a dark cold house because the electric bill didn't get paid. Having a hard time understanding the temp situation.

Well ..... Yeah, basically At least it does at this time of year. 57.6F as I type this. Just glanced up at the thermo for this room.

Doors are open though. Dogs like going in and out. And I have shit to do outside. Can't just get up, light the stove and shut all the doors. Think that would make me a bit of a weirdo, wouldn't it? " A Dirty Shut In "?

I'm actually perfectly not out of the ordinary, round here. I personally know / knew several older blokes, like me. Just happen to live 'alone', in isolated cottages. Because there's a lot of isolated cottages to live in!

Yes sir i can't get me old bones working unless it's 68f in my house i have natural gas now for heat at this new place i bought, heat pump for colder air. My heart gets heavy for those folks unable to keep warm in their homes do to high costs.
