I've come to the conclusion that I'm really not an auto guy. It's just too much of a whirlwind for me to enjoy. I enjoy the flowers, and in my mind auto's have some of the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. But, I'm old and kind of set in my ways. I really like the time and potential that photo plants give me. Folks like you, Going2fast Bowhunterwoody and others blow me away with how rapidly you hop on problems and fix what you can. Auto's a whole different ball game for me when it comes to nutritional needs and training and I really don't think I know the rules of the game well enough to play.

I've seen the PPP method maybe you should try the G2F method. Bag of mgo, a five gallon bucket, half a cup of dolomite lime and one of my beans. What do you have to lose my hydro friend?

Going2fast I have absolutely nothing to lose. I’ve grown your beans and will grow more (thank you). It’s one of the reasons I’m so impressed… but I like my growgasms to last a bit longer 😂 Autos are almost a wham bam thank you ma’am for me. But damn those auto flowers are just frickin beautiful!

Oh yeah I see some scarlet. Man this cross does seem to get sensitive to high powered LED's once flower hits which is very interesting. But 2 and six look to be starving. Could be that whole being thirsty thing too.🤣 Man I hate fabric pots for that reason. You sure did some serious lst on those gals. All them budsites are hungry. Nice work brototype. If they all went perfect it would get boring.

I like fabric for their low profile. But yes, it can be difficult to the watering dialed in. I was basically going to firgitation route, until I realized it was to little.
From here in out I'm jus let gonna drown em when they're light, lol. Its very difficult to overwater I fabric.

In my defense...its been a minute since I did a serious grown in soil, and quite a while since using fabric.

Blowdout2269 please forgive me while I hi- jack your amazing thread (one time only. promise)
These are some auto’s I grew in hydro. Though not any of the Scarlet variations it does prove my point about just how beautiful auto’s CAN be and - yes they can produce well … they’re just a bit fast for my personal tastes

My hats off to you auto folks. Keep up the good work 👍🏼

Thanks Bluey. More pics coming soon.

SoOrbudgal, I actually do cover them. Just wanted to show what I was doing. Last year i buried a slice of a huge sandwich tomato from the farmers market the same way, about a half inch under soil. It sprouted so many seeds! I let them go until I could choose the strongest, then culled the rest. I actually even cloned it when it grew up. Just to say that I could, lol. 👍

At what day has your Scarlet Grapes been harvested?

    #52
Blowdout2269 90days from seed. I wasn't seeing any better bulking just them getting tired, leaves getting crispy ugly. I'm disappointed with the grow and blame myself. I jarred up and got only 1 quart each plant. So maybe 2oz off each plant? I don't have a scale LOL. But i knew these would be tough under my minimalistic tent enviornment. Photos do better for me do to their genetics seem to do so much better in cooler temps for me. I like growing autos but late spring or early fall do better indoors for me. I wish you good luck and much better results than me LOL hopefully i can get by just abit longer while my 2 other autos are growing. I need to boost my pantry so i can quit growing indoors an just focus on outdoor gardening.

Well, it's been a while since an update, so here we go...
As some of you know...This grow went south on me in a hot hurry! I could not see a real good way to correct it, so I decided to ride it out and attempt to limp em across the finish line. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. 😔
I'm still fairly certain the soil mixture is not good, but that's behind me. I've checked a small amount of run-off a couple times and it wasn't super high at 13-1400 and a consecutive pH of 6.5. I've seen worse with synthetics and yet never had this happen. Coincidentally enough, this is also the first time I've ever used Fox Farm Ocean Forest. One third of my living at the bottom, then a third FFOF, then topped off with my go-to Miracle Grow Organics. They leaves have always been super happy(praying), aside from the recent yellowing. Maybe I got overzealous with the new light fixture? Yet, not foxtails. Question: Can a plant have severe nutrient burn, yet still not be getting enough nutrients? Hell, maybe I staved them, idk lol. 🤔
Anyways, I'm gonna have to be harvesting early otherwise the flowers will suffer. Worst case scenario, it becomes extracts. The overall health and the trichomes are being closely monitored for the first(or last, lol) opportunity. Starting a harvest every few days. Hey, what do ya do? Just keeping my head high and plugging on to the next one. Shame on me. 🤪
        Here's some pics!
        # 5 Harvested at day 67
Almost all cloudy trikes, some amber.

        # 7 harvest at day 70.
Mostly cloudy, quite a bit of amber, very little clear.
Once the sugar leaves start to die...that's it!

Give yourself a pat on the back for sticking with this grow. I think you'll be surprised with them regardless of how they look. I'm smoking mine now, i know you don't partake but if someone you know does let them give you a report of effect. I'm loving mine as small and as much trouble i had like yours i'm liking the effects and that's all i'm caring about LOL. I can't wait to set a few free outdoor this summer. Brostaff those are some pretty buds and 70 days isn't going to hurt the potency much. Third pic is gorgeous. Yeah all the plants seem to be suffering the same. Saw the fox farms soil at a local nursery. Yeah I ain't paying 34 bucks for a bag of dirt. Seems to get mixed reviews. I'm not sure if they weren't just hungry or too much nutes. Your pH is good. More work to be done on this strain. I think your friends will still enjoy the results. Keep the pics coming please.

Thanks for the kind words SoOrbudgal and Going2fast. Yeah, I can only recall one time that I gave up on a grow. The thrip in invasion of '21! I was several weeks into flower and absolutely could not mitigate with everything else going on in life at that time. A bunch of random genetics and a special bag seed from a friend of a friend. Likely Jungle Boys stuff. The growth was unreal. Like nothing I'd seen b4. Aswell as a perfect manifold to boot! It was sad.

Anyways, yeah I'm sure someone can give me a report. I'm loving the smells, even though my sniffer doesn't work quite right sometimes, lol. I think the coolest thing about these ladies is the purple trichomes. Never seen that before! Just wish I could steady my hands long enough to get a good pic through the loop. Purple counts amber, right? Hehe

Yeah, I've read alot of mixed reports about FFOF also. And hell no I wouldn't pay 34 bucks a bag for it! Shit, I won't pay full price for any bagged soil, lol. I buy at the end of the season when the garden and farm stores are desperate to unload it. I think I played 12ea for these six bags last year. And I bought the remaining 42 bags of MG Organics at Home Depot for two dollars each like three winters ago, lol. Can't beat that!

My previous guest was correct, five out of eight went full Scarlet in the flowers(1, 2, 4, 5, & 6). But i think they're all be having the pretty reds and pinks in their fade/death. I was also researching the parent strains from Gas Reaper and Mephistso. One said it was like a 65-75 day'r and the other like 75-85. Can't remember which. I know this is speculatory(<--not sure if this is a word), but it oughta get me close. I'd rather take em down than have em die!

I also did a little test the other day. I put off watering for an extra couple days and obviously they didn't like it. I was just trying to prolong the inevitable, lol. So I watered, but with less than half their normal intake, in hope's that I could try and feed them through just the surface roots. Nope, failed again! Lol, after seeing them the next day(yesterday), they'll all be coming down asap.
So there's more pics coming tonight.

But for now, here's a picture of the 'matter's I got raging in my little grow room atm.

Transplants all went well. Still gotta up-pot several. These damn seeds really took off. Hehe, I think I got like 40 of these things!

I'm sorry to be kind of a stranger. Must admit, there is a small amount of shame, lol. See a soon! 🙂👍

Well i totally understand i have shown less than stellar grows, I think it's good that we show new growers that even us long time growers have " Burps " in our grows. Lord knows what these bags of soil got in them we trust the name from years of use then it changes. Anyway, it's over LOL time to move on and get them toms and garden going. My hands are getting rough again and i love it stained with dirt. I'm making a bean pole tipee but i've not choosen my toms yet which strain something medium an on the sweet side.

Sorry that I didn't get back to y'all the other night. I've been fighting this nasty head cold all week and just absolutely felt like shit. One of those where you're head feels like a balloon and it seems you are talking out of your nose, lol. Pretty much nothing but work, sleep, and harvest the last few days.
          Well here goes...nobody laugh! 🤣
Scarlet Grape # 5, harvested at day 67.
Probably the best of the worst.

Mo laughing here although, ok, I laughed. But underneath that outer funny looking weirdness you have a lovely fully packed bud goodness and that's all that matters
