Is that going to be a DWC set up? May I suggest if it is, either exchange the tote for an opaque (preferably a dark color) one, or wrap it completely on the outside with a dark or reflective tape. You do not want any light getting to the inside and starting Your own 'algae bloom'!
Nice and spacious area. May I also add one more thing, a clean room is the sign of a warped mind! LOL! Remember, 'Dust Bunnies' have a right to life also! LOL!
            Good luck with your grow.

Yes DW2 I am rolling onto dwc and initially bought a dark blue tub a lid, managed to break a crack in the tub. So wifey and I went shopping and she wants to watch the roots... any suggestions to aid that effort, I'm already planning to use hydroguard.

furrysparkle, I just logged on and went to the message center and found several 'requests' from You. I am totally ignorant about the navigation on here. I 'clicked' on one and it took me to what, to me, looked like a 'profile' page for You. Do the 'requests' have anything to do with the little icons with the @? If I miss them, or screw up, I apologize for my ignorance. please let me know, when the icon shows in a comment, does it mean to reply to it? Thanks
As far as keeping an eye on the roots, I would recommend only looking at them when necessary during routine maintenance. I would not allow any more light into the reservoirs than necessary. Getting rid of the brown algae is a lot more difficult than preventing it from starting.

On the roots I plan on preventing it by using hydroguard, as for the requests I'm not totally sure, I subscribed to ya and the DW2 is just to make sure you see any posts I want you specifically to see.

Thanks and good luck with the DWC adventure! You have to know that DWC is easy, because I can do it! (this is from someone who can't even grow mold in the fridge!) LOL!

If you type someone's name with "@" in front, it will send them a notification to check out the thread, so they don't miss it Plus it makes it so someone can click on the name and go directly to that person's profile if they want

I'm just starting my first grow (seeds are germinating) and added one of these to my grow tent, great to use with the iPad, iPhone or Android device.

Disclosure: I have no financial connection to this company

We love learning from the experience of our growers! I just wanted to take a second here to encourage everyone in the forum to share what they've learned about companies, equipment, genetics, etc. As long as someone has no financial connection to a company we want to hear about it!

More grow stuff made it now just waiting on the water pump! Also adjusted my grow room a bit!!

also does anyone know a good way to cut these holes into the lid?

Look's like a great start! I used an adjustable hole cutter from Harbor Freight, not too expensive and you can adjust it for holes from about 1 3/4 to 5 1/2 inches in diameter. The hole size for a 3 3/4 inch net pot is approximately 3 7/16 inch. I can't find the instruction sheet that came with it, but I will look it up and let You know.

Bummer! I tried to find the adjustable hole cutter information at Harbor Freight and it does not show up when I searched for it. I bought the one I have almost two years ago, I guess that they did not sell enough of them to keep them in stock.
            Good luck with Your grow.

When I did hydronspinach I used "hole saws" . I used a drill press but a hand held works too- just gotta stand on it a bit. I did anchor the top with c clamps so that it didn't spin.

I've found the 3-5/8” size Hole Saw works perfectly for 3.75" net pots

Unfortunately I opted for the slightly cheaper 3" pots

Those will work too! I bet a 2-7/8" hole saw would be perfect for those
