There are two main methods to create your own feminized cannabis seeds: the colloidal silver spray method or using rodelization.

Just followed the directions here. Makes feminized seeds. Bought my CS from Amazon, make sure you compare prices because there are some sharks out there. Just need it to be a high enough percentage as explained in the link above. I know the OG growers/breeders are often anti feminized seed but I honestly do not know why. Using CA to create feminized seed does not produce Hermie seeds. There really are no drawbacks, only benefits from it.

Franklin are you making your own CS or buying it..Does that not make fem seeds for you? never used it, then again have only been using regular seeds...moving forward i think fem is the way to go..

My strategy for breeding is to pop lots of f1 crosses, take two clones of everything right before 12/12 and put in separate veg tent, veg the clones out until you have a good idea which of the flowering plants has the best traits. Keep the best clone based on the flowering tent and use CS on it, cram it into the flowering tent about 2 weeks before flipping the veg tent to 12:12. At this point the flowers in your flowering tent will be so far along they won't get seeded, or you can just move it back in to the veg tent right before you switch the veg tent to flower.

This approach gives you control over your "male" so you know exactly what characteristics you're going to get from both plants, unlike usual breeding. I suppose if you really wanted to you could clone that male plant indefinitely for a back cross, I personally don't do back crosses because of the hassle of keeping the clone.

Yeah the pepper was just fitting into some extra space I had, I grew Thai and ghost peppers outside last summer, kept some seeds of each and threw the Thai in a pot when I started this grow. Would like to grow the ghost inside too, I imagine it could get super hot and have better yields than outside in the cooler wet climate I have. Made some fermented peach and pineapple ghost hot sauces that kick you in your face.

I was just thinking about how to manage the males in future...maybe separate grows not tents. if one was serious they would keep males to effectively back cross but i have just used seeds and the males from those beans.

so your growing peppers side by side your girls? My wife asked me to did up some jalapenos plants this past fall and bring them in. I put together a cfl strip with about 250 w 5 ft long...Not worth the effort, i should of tended to them more....the thing is they brought in fruit flies, and i was worried they would find my grow area on the other side of the house..

Beautiful bud there Franklin,,looks like your cross is a very colorful one...bonus

I had a few males in the tent with the girls, and pulled them out one at a time when I was 100% sure....left the one donor in there but at that time the girls were just starting to flower so i kept the male cut way back and collected pollen for a couple of branches om each plant. I just hope the only seeds are the planned ones...

This has now gone public so I can feel free to share -For those not familiar with the strain I'm involved in the Frankenstein Group. Frankenstein is a strain developed by Johnny Potseed that for 20 years has only been available through cuttings. We have managed to successfully reverse engineer the plant to produce feminized seeds (available to the public shortly). At this point the project has produced two VERY distinct phenotypes - Hilda & Olive [AKA Hildagiggle & Olive Goil]. I'm watching your project eagerly and keeping my yellow sticky paper out to catch any bits of information that might be flying about. PM me some time

Olive (back), Hilda (front) she's the Momma; just topped for cutting.

Very cool project...way above my pay grade. Maybe when I have more experience I could participate but for now I'm in awe and will just watch.

Very interesting. It's just like how biological siblings can be so different from each other and from their parents.

i have grown out thai, strawberry cough, and cotton candy kush several times over the past 3 or 4 years and every time the plant have always grown with sativa branching..."i am referring to there respective crosse's" but this past summer the wife had 4 plants in the garden and 3 turned out male so i pulled 2 males but left 1 because he was beautiful and had strong hash smell...i suspect that was from the c.c.k...i allowed him to pollinate a branch.. currently i am growing one of them out, but the thing is, the sativa branching has always been there with the cross, not this time and the smell is very different. more on the piney side... Not complaining just kind of awed how the recessive jeans can show up with something different...

I really should read up on basic breeding..

This was my second time growing it out so the seeds from this round, which will be ready in a few weeks, will be f2. One of the plants smokes exactly like I wanted it to, a perfect blend of orange and Zkittles, just pure orange candy, it's really something. I bred a clone of that plant with itself and those seeds will be ready soon. I also bred that with a clone of its sister, which frankly doesn't smell like it's going to be great, it's just a mild orange smell, but it smokes so good! Orange flavor is in there but there's some stinkiness, gas or diesel or something, that coats the back of your throat. That wasn't in the original genetics of either Skittles or the orange barb, so I must have pulled out some recessive genes. I actually prefer it to what I was trying to make! So I will have seeds of that crossed with the orange variation too. How's your hand doing? Hope it's healing up.
