    GMO and marijuana?

I know many foods have written on the package "NO GMO!" How does this play in the marijuana culture?
I remember learning about the monk(?) with the peas and how he bred them for different trait, dominant and recessive genes and what not in middle school. The difference between maize today and 5,000 years, or before humanity's interest, is unbelievable and attained by genetic manipulation as expressed by traits. I guess the best example is getting ruderalis traits into photos to produce autos. The trait was in the flowering but it is genetic so the cross breeding was genetic manipulation. So I don't think I am against GMO.
I can say I am against attempts to cause dogs to have feathers and stuff is going to far. I do think some horrible things are going on in dog breeding but that is another matter. I don't eat meat and the only things I kill consciously are roaches, I feel bad but that is the way it is.
How about it cannabis growers, do you ever think about it?

I have made GMO weed, or double chromosome (or quad chromosome), across the big pond they got in trouble a few years ago for genetic manipulations, so it has and does happen. Would I do it again. hell yes.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. Everything we smoke has been genetically manipulated, have you grown autos, eaten an ear of corn, all GMO.

People get confused with the gene splicing, directly altering the DNA structure, and the old fashioned way of trial and error gene selection.

Like you said corn has got to be the most modified plant on the planet I think actual GMO splicing would create just what you wanted and that could be tremendous.

It could be tremendously dangerous as well. As I mentioned earlier feathered dogs could be a danger so crossing species to me is over the line. The first time I heard about cloning in reference to cannabis I thought "Isn't that an expensive operation.", of course I later learned it was nothing more than taking a cutting and nothing new at all. I just think it is important to understand what people are talking about before jumping on this bandwagon or that because Joe Kennedy or somebody like him says get GMO out of our food and other nonsense.

The gene splicing has been going on for a long time already. Yes you may be able to get feathered dogs but I though we were talking cannabis?

What they have done with corn to survive drought is amazing. All it needs now is a good start and it will still produce what the old stuff did on good years.

Right 3Berries, you may know this, hasn't all of the crossing of strains been through pollination and not gene splicing? Christ is that what some people mean when they say we need more research. Booker T. Washington found 144 uses for peanuts, when he wasn't driving around in his MGs, So many of our present day medicines got their start in the Amazon, maybe cannabis also add to our pharmacopeia.

The anti science crowd at work again. Breeding is not the genetic manipulation that the anti GMO crowd is afraid of. It is genetic modification by gene splicing that they fear. Guess what, if we do away with GMO corn, wheat, barley and other grains, a good chunk of the world is going to starve. The GMO crops have been developed to be pest, disease and drought resistant as well as produce larger crops. This is something that is increasingly necessary due to population increase and climate change. Do away with GMO foods and prices in the grocery store will soar even higher as crop failure in the current situation is all to common. We can bitch about the higher prices but in developing countries, without GMO foods, they will have famines.

I read a study a week or so ago, in the study they did urine testing for glyphosates and found 80% of those tested were positive for weed killer.
That wheat our Big Brother released on us in 1939 just may be causing things like Celiac disease. Even the wild wheat on the farm here is affected.

More like we take it too far sometimes. I love a good better boy tomato out of the garden which is a gmo plant. But bite into a hot house tomato from the store. Might as well be eating sand. Love my Labrador. But look at a French bulldog. Poor abomination can't even breath property.

No shit! "They" have produced dogs that look like a rug all balled up. I don't even know if they are canines anymore.

Thing about pugs - brachycephalic, smooshed face breed - is that they are a very old breed, 1800's AKC. China owned them solely, then later gifted a couple to some English royalty. They were bred to lay next to their master in Victorian times, for warmth.
