    new to LED lights

I have used blurple lights, I have used HPS, now I am going into the new LED lights and want to know a little information on what to expect, I bought a Mars hydro TS 3000w. I know some may groan at this, it is perfect for my needs and is dimmable. So what distance should I have it at, what will temps be like, this is basically what I need to know.

I have a couple of hurricane fans pointed at the backs of my LED lights and they are pretty much room temperature to the touch. With the exhaust fan running they make almost no difference in temperature which is why I like them so much over HPS. As far as distance my Vivosun 2000's came with a guide for each stage of growth from 24" for seedlings to 12" for flowering. Although I tend to keep them a bit further up than recommended because they seem to work really well and the reflective surface of the grow tent scatters the light very well.

As usual I have a oscillating fan blowing across the tops of the plants to prevent hot spots

do you need the fans on them or do they stay cool without them?

They kind of heat up a bit but you can still put your hand on them. I use the fans because they stay cool and in my mind it prolongs the lifespan of the lights. As with all electric things cooler temperatures prevent damage. Lots of PC's use liquid cooled CPU's so it makes sense to me

That does make sense, keeping fans on it. I will run them at night to keep the heat down.

Hey Ace1973 good light you bought from what others have said. I don't need one with the vipar P2500 it's never above 80f but i don't grow indoors during the heat of summer, i do container grows outdoors. You could just test it out with a thermomter that's how i tested the tent closed up let that light run for couple hours.
