    SOIL Help please

    Hello,

I am new to this website and not sure if I am writing in the right place or not. Anyway, I am growing for the first time. My plants are flowering however they are starting to get yellow leaves from the bottom as shown. I am not 100% sure what the strain is. I think it's blueberry. I am using 'easy as organics living soil' which contains:

Sphagnum peat moss, worm castings, lightweight scoria, horticultural grade compost, walnut shell biochar, paramagnetic basalt rock dust, malted barley, soft ag lime, grade 1 natural gypsum, Tasmanian kelp meal, neem seed meal, fish meal, colloidal soft rock phosphate, amino chelated manganese, amino chelated copper.

I have sprinkled some clover seeds over the top as someone told me it helps with nitrogen and acts as a living mulch. I water about once a day.

Any idea why the plants are yellowing? Will this affect my harvest my plants?

    Thank you

Not enough food remaining in the soil. They are using what food the leaf has yet left to form those buds. The plant needs more food, those yellow dead leaf are telling you that

Hello, thanks for your input. So you think the soil mixture is fine? I just need to grow in a bigger pot next time?

Hope he told you that when they die they leave a lot of nitrogen in the soil almost toxic.

Nitrogen is accumulated in small nodules on the roots of clover as they grow. When the roots die, nitrogen is released into the soil for other plants to use. Perennial clovers release nitrogen when they are mowed, because a portion of the root system dies off when the plants are cut. For maximum nitrogen production in annual clovers, they should be tilled into the soil when they are in full flower but before seed has begun to form.

Hello, thanks for your input. Does this mean that I won't be able to reuse this soil for my next grow?

LemonBud oh i get what you mean now, sure is good cover crop outdoors but in a small pot i'm not so sure it would be sufficient to use as a N replacement. I do compost my own soil very careful about what unsterile buggy things can " worm " their" way into it. Thank you for explaining

Your are welcome SoOrbudgal I wasn't thinking about replacement but the addition of more nitrogen from feeding and clover would mean maybe an overloaed of nitrogen causing problems.

They need some nutrients and water less. A lot less, unless your climate requires it.

Hello, thanks for your input. I read that when you use living soil like ocean forest fox farm soil, there was no need for adding nutrients. My soil is also living soil and I thought it would be similar to that? Should I add something to mix in the soil for my next grow?
