Changing Bulbs When Switching to 12/12

For anyone who still uses different light bulbs for different stages, I've been wondering recently when people choose to switch their bulbs. (Not directly applicable to LED growers, though again, if it's a fully controllable board then would be interesting to hear when you switch wavelengths)

Currently, for veg i use a 400W MH and for flowering a 600W HPS, and when i do switch to 12/12 i always consider the initial 2 weeks a transition period and then i start to count the 1st week of flowering from after this 2 week period. (Cause it then stops me waiting the usual 2 weeks at harvest time lol!)

When i do switch, I've always changed to the HPS straight away for the 2 week transition period, mainly just cause it's more lumens & the vague belief that red hues help reinforce the message it's flower time!

Yet, I've recently thought maybe i might be best keeping the MH in for this 2 week period after switch, as certainly plant obviously doesn't need the redness to flower, and maybe the blue/white hues of the MH is better when in transition as it's still technically vegging more than flowering. Plus, there is the cost saving of running 2 weeks at 400W still instead of 600W which i always like!

So just wondered what bulbs people choose to use at switching time and how they feel about what wavelengths are best??!

Like you, I've always switched the bulb from MH to HPS at the onset of switching to 12/12. Been doing it that way for 20 years and never found a reason to try something different
