    My Own Grow

    Hi folks,

I'm starting a grow in my house and I don't live in the US, therefore a lot of questions and equipment I'll ask/buy probably won't be understood so easy. I've just bought a tent from HomeBox x GrowLab GL80, it's a 1.8mx0.8mx0.8m or for those who preffer 6ftx2,6ftx2,6ft. My setup will be the one I can afford and I've read most tutorials for a long time on growweedeasy.com. I'm starting with a Carbon Filter, a MH lamp for veg, HPS for flora, an exhaustor vent connected by tubes. Probably start with a coco coir soil with 6-8 gallons (or 30 liter) buckets and I'll go for General Hydroponics Micro, Bloom, Gro. My vent is going to be a 125mm 230m³/h (min) to 345m³/h (max), i'll go for a Carbon Filter with 400m³/h but there is an option of lowering that to 250m³/h. I'll use 600w lamps with cooltubes and a 600w reactor (not electronic).

My first questions are specific; with that air flow I'll be able to have my grow odor free (2 scenarios with both Carbon Filter)? I was wondering also if I really should use 600w lamps, since my first setup will be for only 2-3 plants, or if a 400w setup is enough (of course a 600w setup is great for a later grow w/ more plants, but is it necessary for a start? - I am aware of the trade off here on a long term). And I've read a lot about trimming, defoliation a scroge tactics, is it really not recommended for starter growers?

OBS: I have 3 seeds from way back and probably storaged them wrongly, kept it on my closet inside a M&M tube and these days I've put them on a black tube inside my fridge. I was wondering if the soak overnight it's a really good method for old seeds, does anyone have an opinion on that?

    Thanks a lot!

Sounds like you're off to a great start, one lamp for a couple of plants should be good. Stay in your comfort zone make it a fun project. Go slow, keep the light close but not to close, top them after the third node enjoy watching them grow. After a few weeks try a light defol. on one of them take one third of the leaves off one plant and watch what happens in the next 8 or 10 days. Each grow is a new experiment.

Sure, PRIMO. From what I've read about defoliation it's something I'll have to experience and I'll surely pay an extra attention to that, probably post some photos to have a feedback. I was wondering how close must I stay the MH away from my veg babies, is a hand palm good for an early vega or should I keep the lamp something like 3ft away?
