Will staking 3-4 weeks into flowering hurt the roots?

It’s been 3 weeks since I flipped my Sour Diesel to 12/12. She’s coming along nicely and seems healthy. Tonight I’m doing the last major defoliation. I’m growing in FFOF indoors in a tent, one 5 gallon fabric pot. I’m feeding the Fox Farm liquid nutrients every other watering.

I have 8 main stalks, mostly at about the same canopy level. I suspect sometime soon I’m going to have to stake them so that they don’t fall over, especially with the oscillating tower fan going.

If I put several bamboo stakes into the soil 3 or 4 weeks into flowering, will this damage my roots significantly?

Thanks, dilvish. I actually am planning to, but what does that have to go with staking?

Are they already bending? If not then wait until they do before deciding if you need supports

They are not bending yet, but when my buds start developing in earnest I like to use an oscillating tower fan to maximize gentle air flow between the colas. When I do that, it can make the branches sway if they’re not staked. If they sway too much, they risk snapping or falling over.

Take some plant wire and make a big X using the corner poles of your tent under your lights. Then Run a string from the branch up to the wire. Use a two half hitch knot on the plant and a taught line hitch knot on the wire end so the length of the string can be changed to accommodate the plant.

Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.

Thanks everyone. I ended up staking after my flowering week 3 defoliation tonight. Here’s a before and after. Did I do well? Did I take too much?
