I buy the majority of my equipment for growing on Amazon and EBay. If you frequent EBay & PayPal, you may want to read up on this as it is effecting a lot of people and being kept quiet about which is very bad if you do a lot of importing like myself as it makes it next to impossible to get your money back when dealing with out of country companies and the few who discovered this issue have deliberately taken advantage of it. In the past, if seller or buyer didn't pay or didn't ship, their were options to get one or the other to stand in and freeze funds until the problem is dealt with. Unfortunately, due to the way the system has messed up, there isn't a record for them to go by other than your own bank statement, and that's if they took funds from your bank.
What is happening, started with an update on January 30th 2017. This update messed up the payment system and generates a form of payment that doesn't exist, and at the same time generates a withdrawal to your bank account set up with them. Now here is where it gets worse, as this problem is not generating a paper trail except to tell the vendor that the transaction was not paid for but if they look in their account, they will see in fact they had been paid.
Several purchases I made via EBay generated emails from PayPal to the merchant that they have not been paid and not to release the item. Companies who I bought from before decided to jump on the bandwagon so to speak and are now taking advantage by keeping the funds they get and not releasing the items paid for and what is worse, its causing the purchases to be non-cancelable nor can you report the merchant as these options will not show up unless PayPal's system informs EBay's system that the sale was in fact completed. If they were here in the USA, it be easy to get my funds back, but their out of the USA, the seller that is and unless it gets fixed, I'm out $600. EBay and PayPal will not contact one another and keeping this issue under wraps, though I know of 5 others this has happened to as well.
Normally I would never even bother to write something like this, especially here. I like to stay on topic, ok, well almost on topic. Why do I feel eyes rolling at me >_< Anyway, if you do use this service and are importing like I do, if the item is expensive, I would think twice for now at least on making any purchases where the company is outside your country, because most likely, you will never see what you paid for or your money you spent. Again, the ratings system, the entire system is pointless because regular sellers with great ratings have already taken advantage of this. I mean who wouldn't take advantage of a situation if they learned that their selling system that generates over 8000+ sales a month is now taking money and depositing it into your account with no source info of who it came from? Its like an Online Role Playing game where people who have old beta accounts who never broke a rule suddenly find out that they can dupe gold by dropping it in a bag on the ground. Now you get thousands of people repeating this bug thinking its soo widespread, nothing will get done then one day, your friends don't show up and you suddenly read an article that over 500 accounts got perma banned for duping gold. Then all the honest people who paid for gold who had no clue it was duped get banned too and then they call their bank, hundreds of chargebacks get done, and now PayPal and EBAY make a policy of no pixel selling ever again. What I just mentioned, happened back in 2004 which is why you don't see game accounts for sale anymore. They were both hit for over $2,000,000 in chargebacks. So now, their system is messing up and no word of it getting fixed, so hopefully anyone reading this sees this in time before they lost $$ like I and many others have. Take care all.
