Answer to the wilting problem some are having?

Hey gang, I’m not sure if this was previously posted but just in case. More of a PSA than a question but feel free to pitch in if you think this may or may not be the cause of the wilting problem.

I’ve been seeing more and more posts from people lately about plants mysteriously wilting. I think I may have come across a possible answer. Following is a line from the ‘Zamnesia’ cannabis growing site: “….Dutch elm disease, which essentially blocks the plant's water support system, causing it to wilt and eventually die out.”

I’ve never had the wilting problem with cannabis (I’ve had it in squash plants but from a different cause) but this sure sounds like it could be a cause. It is certainly a huge problem in North America with elm trees but the site suggested cannabis is susceptible. I think it went to the UK in the 60s from Canada. Not sure where else it went (I just posted here after reading one paragraph I didn’t do any additional research so if someone knows more please jump in).

Dutch elm disease killed off tons of trees here in the north east. I've never heard of it effecting cannabis but it is an interesting theory. Luckily I haven't had any issues with any of my plants wilting (knocks on wood) out of nowhere.

I hadn’t even considered it until I saw it on zamnesia. I don’t know if there is any basis in science for the statement or if it was just speculation. I just now did a quick search and couldn’t find anything that supports it. Maybe it’s wrong or they mixed it up with another fungus.

I can tell you I've had 4 plants, four different strains wilt up mysteriously. All 4 were very healthy until the growth got really twisted then stopped growing all together. 3 seem to be trying to rebound but o had to chop off the top half of growth. I had chalked it up to heat and humidity as these were indica leaning but I will research this further. Thanks deadly.

SO haven't been able to find much info on the interwebs about dutch elm disease in weed but did come across this from paradise seeds. HpLVD or hop latent viroid seems to fall in line with what I'm expirerncing. My first plant, a beauty of a forbidden dream got sick first. Within two to three weeds the other 3 plants close to it, AK-47, ssog, and orange sherbet got sick. All of these plants have one thing in common as I tend to them at the same time and must have spread it to them. All but the forbidden dream are struggling to rebound after I cut off all of the top growth or lack of in this case. She's a gonner. The article states that it's possible the disease authough unlikely came from the seed. Now I'm going to leave those plants be and bid good luck to them as I do not want to chance spreading it to my others. More research to come but wanted to share this.
