I've got a fair stash of seed, some of it purchased as far back as 2017 and some homegrown this year, plus a whole bunch gotten from sales in between. I've been trying a mix of the oldest (ILGM stuff) and newest feminized seed to get seedlings ready to go when the new 4x4 tent is empty again. Part of this is for babies, part is to purge dead seed from the bank. I wasn't having too much luck lately. Yesterday after pitching a few that molded instead of germinating, I had an idea. My process for older seed has been wet paper towel inside a plastic Chinese take out box kept in the dark between two seedling trays and a seedling mat underneath to nudge them along with some warmth. For newer seeds, I've just been starting them just under the surface of the coco in a solo cup. I started three seeds yesterday: an Afghani (ILGM-2017), a Purple Kush (ILGM-2019), and a Peyote Zkittlez (Seedsman-2020). Most seeds older than this year have been stored in less-than-ideal conditions, i.e. too warm. I was reusing the boxes from previous attempts and I had a notion to wet the paper towels with 3% peroxide first inside the take out box, wiping the inside of the lids with the peroxided paper towels for good measure before wringing out the towel and rewetting with tap water. I did this for all three of them. All three of them were cracked open this afternoon after work! Now I'm really tempted to try the Cindy 99 seeds I have left, but there will be a mess of seedlings to grow out first.

I enjoy the papertowel method as well, usually in a ziploc bag in a towel, burrito style.....but same same.
Seedbank I got my seeds at said they can be stored in sealed containers in the fridge nearly forever. Something about colder temps warming helping them to sprout after "overwintering".Learned a lot this year. pH and whiteflies are issues that need controlling. Maybe an auto over January.....hmmmm...

A while back I sent seeds to others to be told no sprouts. So I pulled the seed and tried some, sure enuf no sprouts, but why all have been kept cool and dry. I pulled out some 300 or so seed and got 8 sprouts. The seed had been stored in used medicine bottles, the only thing I came up with is the medicine in the pours killed the seed. I no longer recycle those bottles.
