    Tap root

    Hello everyone, newbie here ,
my little babies have sprouted. One of them has the seed husk still on the top of the tap root!🌱 will it fall off? Should I leave it?

    Hi Alex3579
Welcome We call that helmet head....it happens regularly. The seed husk should fall off on it's own. If you want to help it, you can spray a little bit of water on it. Not to knock it off with the water spray but some water may help lubricate it to fall off on it's own. Wait a few days...if it's still not off, use some tweezers and see if you can pull it off. Good luck!

Take a eye dropper or stick your finger in water allow a droplet or 2 to 3 small droplet to fall ontop of that seed. It helps the colydron to spread open an force the seed pod off. If it's still stuck after a day, do that again use very gently a toothpick to nudge it. Happens to me almost all the time LOL. Good luck Alex3579

Spray it lightly with a spray bottle to keep it moist and give it a couple days. It usually comes off on it's own. As the cotyledon leaves push open it should pop off.
If not you can carefully use tweezers to help but don't try to pull it off.

If it hasn't shed 36hrs after sprout, I begin my LST early by giving it a little nudge.

            Hey everybody,
thanks for all the great advice, helmet head is doing fine a little behind my other 2 which have 6 leaves, helmet head only has 4, but he's getting there. My question today is, if I'm using fox farms, ocean forest soil, should I be adding new nutrients now to these little guys? Thanks

I would not give them any nutes for the first 3-4 weeks.
