HYDRO A little confused concerning mainlining

Hello everyone!
So I am a bit confused and have a question. Background first.
I am growing 3 ladies in hydro and am trying manifolding/mainlining for the first time. I pretty much understood how it worked up until I flipped the switch two weeks ago.
So, here it is. Do i continue to remove some of the lower growth on each main cola or do should I be letting them now begin to make side branches and such.
In these past two weeks i have been doing a bit of light defoliation since they bushed out quite alot.
I had a pretty good handle on it up until now hahaha.
The pictures included were just before I made the switch.
Thanks in advance all!

It probably depends on the strain. I've seen them both ways. Done them both ways. I personally think I get more smoke with more branches. But you will get bigger buds with less branches. Looking good !!
