    Tent Recomendations

So I'm thinking for next grow of buying a tent and I am looking for some opinions.

I am looking at a Gorilla lite tent -- 2 x 2.5 x 5'7" For now Soil but perhaps in the future Hydro.

My goal for the tent would be to grow 2 auto's at a time --- so would this support 2autos? More than 2?

If I went to just fem plants, not auto's, would the 5'7" be high enough, (depending on the type) if I trained them some way or is it too short for that?

For non auto's, I was also thinking about starting the girls in a tent and then transplanting to the outside, is that advisable.

Basic goal 2 auto's growing at a time -- all year round -- to supply 2 people would that Gorilla tent big big enough.

Oh, the height - I'm tall, fat, lazy, and do not want to fight getting in and out -- any foreseeable issues?

    Thanks for any help

FWIW, I looked at a bunch of different brands and ultimately settled on Agromax (sold by HTG supply in stores & eBay) for their heavy-duty, quality construction. Yes, it's made in China (aren't they all?) but the quality of this tent was very impressive, at a very good price. I optioned for the 'XL' model (4.5'wX8'lX7'h) for $259 and I'm very happy with it.

Don't forget that your lighting system will take up considerable room at the top of your tent, and that your tent will need to be strong enough to support the lighting system and any peripherals (cooling venting, odor scrubbing, etc) that goes along with it.

As far as transplanting out of the tent, you lose some 'control' over the development of the plant (for non-autos) and subject them to the possibility of pollination.

The size of your tent depends somewhat on the size of the space it will occupy in your living environment. Obviously, if odor control is an issue, you will need to mitigate that which may dictate the location, configuration and size of the tent (and associated equipment). With the tent size you are considering, you can maintain the entire useable area from the door, without having to enter the tent itself. If you are planning for future upgrades ('...future Hydro') you may want to reconsider the size of your tent. IMO the height of the tent you are considering is on the small side and may be fine for 'autos' but may be tight for feminized photoperiod strains. Good luck!

mornin cave dude, maybe i can help a lil with this one.did a shit ton of research shopping for a tent.

most are made overseas, and while there are different styles they seem to be cookie cutter within the styles, the brand names determine the price. once again ur paying for a label. the one i got is designed and made with the same materials as the ones with the little logos on it. 5×5×7 for $125. might have got it even cheaper with a lil more digging.
just make sure when u search to scrutinize the materials used because some of them are substandard. if the item ur looking at doesnt give those specifics...skip to the next one. minimize the risk.
find a style that best suits your space layout. vent and port positioning, footprint shape and size, and height.
height!!! get the tallest tent you can get in ur space. i dont give a shit if you have 12 ft ceilings...some tents you can buy extensions for to raise the height. my basement ceilings are a lil under 7.5 ft and when im ready to grow some sativas, im gonna be wishing for more room! and im tellin you now, your height aint gonna matter much with any height of tent cuz you will be on ur knees crawling n squeezing ur way around ur grow anyway. if you want absolute comfort and maneuverability you need a much larger volume area to fit stools n such plus be able to walk around your plants.
as for how much you can grow... 2×2.5 should be ok for 2 plants at a time.
will 2 plants yield enough to supply 2 people? depends on how big those 4 lungs are! how many oz will you need to get thru 4 months (presuming autos)? then you consider average yields of a particular strain ×2 plants. if ur new to growing like me, be prepared for less than avg. yields due to inexperience!
cant really answer your transplant question, im dwc this grow so i know nothing of such things yet, lol.
      hope this helps...good luck

1600d? jesus i was reading 600d! maybe after 23 yrs of welding i should invest in some glasses. sorry, im not trying to steer anyone wrong here! i mean what i got is working great, but thats a big difference in longevity there! so much for the research.

I replaced my Gorilla tent after my pit bull ate it after getting inside!. Skirt on tent damaged now, I have extras on my tent extensions etc. if you need parts contact me. YES 1,600 D it was built to last as long as your pit bull doesn't panic inside. I find the thick fabric cuts down on fan noise as well that's why I bought a replacement.

It really depends on your growing area ultimately, then you can determine size and durability. I grow in a very dark well insulated garage my flower tent is an Apollo because i can get in either side and it has decent durability. My Veg tent is a cheap Ebay brand but i only have lightweight T5s inside with clip fans. Just like a vehicle you get what you pay for but some brands are just over rated and over priced for similar quality like my very reliable Hyundai compared to my girlfriends overpriced Audi lol
          Perpetual setup!

I also have an apollo 4x4x8 and am very pleased with it,for about half the $ of a gorilla. I think it was right around a hundred on amazon.

I use a 4x4 gorilla, when it is stuffed to the brim of flowers, it is extremely difficult to get into the backside of the plants to do any kind of maintenance. Especially if you have netting set up. Other than that gorillas are a great product.

I do not think that tent is big enough.
                completed 7 grows
what I have learned so far:
                environment maters more than nutrients
at least a dab of nutrients in every watering
effective flushing before harvest is critical to quality

                  Thanks Everyone.

I know a 2' by 21/2 ' is small -- tent is small but will it do more than 2 auto's at a time? Or is that about the limit?

Hi Green, I guess I should clarify a bit -- the growing indoor auto stuff is basically turning out to be a wintertime hobby type of thing, so even if I get 2 ounces for a year I will be happy, lol. I have over a 100 acres that will be getting a scattering of plants, and if i get a few ounces from that, I will again be happy.

The hobby part goes like this, after almost 2 years of being retired, I am finally catching up on a very long list of home projects that needed to get done. I finally got to sit down for a while this winter and when my wife saw that, she told me it was time I got a hobby. Little did she know what thoughts went swirling around in my head. So this year it is growing, and if my wife tells me that I should get another hobby I'm going to get my pyrotechnic license, lol.

Okay...since your not really worried about your indoor harvest then two autos in that size of tent will be fine. You might fit three... if you train them low and wide...

Autos can be harvested about two months from sprout...so you can grow in there year around if wanted and have about 5 harvests maybe 6 in one year...
If trained correctly your yield per plant will surprise you...my last auto I harvested almost three and half ounces off her tiny frame...

Can't wait till you start asking about outdoor growing...if you got the space where no one will find them...then watch out...we can get you to a pound plus per plant...on photo plants..schwing!!

Do not transplant your indoor auto to the outside...no time to get them adjusted to the outside....two months is quick
