EC of runoff in soil (conversation starter, not really a question)

So now I'm thoroughly confused on measuring the EC of runoff. My tap water's PPM is 155. The PPM of one gallon of my nute water with 7ml DynaGrow Bloom (%70 percent of recommended dose) is 477. The PPM of my runoff is 829. I guess this means a salt build up?? Wouldn't the PPM's be higher after draining through dirt no matter what? The dirt itself will be dissolved in the run off, right?? I cant comprehend that its possible to have a runoff with less PPM's than the input solution after draining through dirt.

Is measuring the PPM's of runoff in soil even viable?

    I'm utterly confused now. LOL

Hi SoulDwella Good question!! I wondering the same regarding testing the run-off through soil/ soil-less. I think the EC-PPM meter measures dissolved material in the run-off. So any dirt bits floating in your test sample shouldn't matter. Sound like you have a good handle on it. Keep doing reading as you go, maybe it will make sense eventually. If your meter is trustworthy it's good to trust the results.
