    Quick and easy cloning

Whenever I top something, I use the tops for clones. I always have a few clones rooting in the corner.
I especially like to take a second or third cutting under the top that is just a node with shoots. When these root you already have the first two arms of your manifold.

Building the manifold from the 2 armed clone. Weeks ahead of seeds.

looking really nice. I've always thought that using a top doesn't make a good clone. I'm not sure why, but yours look great.

Great idea! I have always read that one needs to take the cuttings for cloning from the lower portion of the plant. I'm going to try that on my next grow.

They may not take as well as other cuttings. But I always have a few going. Sometimes they root in 4 days, sometimes it can be weeks. They work better when it's warm.
I use a wine size plastic cup with moist soil covered by a 16oz cup. I poke holes in the bottom one, but not the top. Time to transplant when you see the roots curling around inside. Usually 2 to 4 weeks. I keep them in the shade of the big plants, but have to find a place to keep them when the big sisters go 12/12. A cardboard box with a CFL will hold them nicely until the main tent goes back to veg.
            Its like sourdough starter.
