I’m wanting to start making edibles and butter. Does anyone with experience making them prefer certain strains over others?

Interesting question.
I can’t recall ever reading about a variance in making edibles from different strains (other than THC vs CBD edibles). I’d be interested to hear what experienced edible makers have to say about it.There are 3 things you must check everyday when growing in hydro:
1) Water level (How much h2o is she drinking in 24hrs)
2) pH level (change over 24hrs)
3) ppm/EC level (How much food is she eating in 24hrs)

I don't do edibles but i do sell to someone who does and sells them and the strongest the weed The better, "sativa" like effects translate into balanced effect in the brownies, "indica" sedating weed makes edibles that knock you out and put you to sleep, according to the baker

When I defoliate sometimes I will chow down a leaf or 2. Some taste great, others terrible. Cheesy method I know, but Cindy 99 tastes good enough to make a salad lol.4x8x8 indoor

I've made cannabutter and canna-coconut oil. A few times. Made brownies and canna-capsules. The capsules had a good effect for my stiff aching joints. The brownies were great I thought but they did have a burnt taste. I've read that for edibles you want a strain with lots of trichromes. I have a high tolerance for cannabis and I didn't get high on anything I made myself. On the other hand I have had high thc gummies from the dispensary kick my butt. Edibles and tinctures are where the dispensaries have the advantage on hobbyists. As for their bud I just quit fooling with them. I look forward to hearing about your experience with your new toy. Merry Christmas !!Focus and relativity.

I make brownies from canna oil. I recently made a batch of oil from popcorn buds trimmed from my plants without drying or curing. This was a mistake as the brownies tasted like crap and weren’t very potent. I took the time to dry and cure my last batch of popcorn buds and the brownies were much better. My conclusion is that you should never use green buds for making the oil.

I haven't made canna-oil or butter yet but I've made many firecrackers. Maybe try making those with different strains and see how you feel? They're easy. I'm usually an indica person. The first time I made a firecracker I was browsing on the laptop when I realized I had a head buzz, the body buzz hit later. Walking down the hallway to go to bed was kinda trippy. I think my scale batts needed changing.Soil: Coast of Maine Stonington Blend, perlite; Seedlings: CoM org potting soil
