Hello everyone,
Please see the attached photos. I would like your opinions about the yellowing of the bottom fan leaves and the damage on the larger fan leaves. I have consulted the growweedeasy diagnosis and few things are possible, namely nitrogen deficiency, magnesium deficiency and wind burn, or systematic under watering. If anyone has any ideas or advice, I'd be grateful. This is my first time growing any type of plant.
Symptoms:
Dry cracking fan leaf tips. Leaves curled worse nearer to the fan. All leaves a bit droopy, like the plant is sleepy in the middle of the day. The single bladed fan leaves have yellowed and withered. A couple of 3-bladed fan leaves on lower branches look yellow and one fell off. Some spotty damage on the larger leaves (but these get bashed all the time by the bucket, sometimes they've been caught in the intake fan.
Details about the plant:
The plant is a Dutch Passion CBD Kush plant that broke soil about 7 and half weeks ago. The plant is in about 9L (2.5) gal of canna terra soil in an air pot. Soil ph is about 6.5. The plant has been growing happily under an 18/6 cycle, and it was topped at the 6th node back to the 4th. Took about a week for the two side nodes to grow big and then I changed the light cycle to a 12/12 schedule. At the flip, the plant was ~10 cm (4 inches) from the soil. The plant has been at 12/12 for about 12 days and is now showing the first couple of pistils. The plant is now ~20 cm tall (8 inches). LST has been used to move the big fan leaves down, and pull out any branches that can grow to the top of the canopy.
Details of setup:
The plant is in a standard 20 L (5 gal) space bucket under 4 23W cfl lights. There is one extension bucket and the lights are maybe 30 cm (1 foot) way from the top of the plant now. There is one fan that blows air into the bucket on the side and one at the top above the lights as an exhaust. The fan at the side creates rustling leaves (but not flapping about everywhere). The fan leaves regularly get squished by the extension bucket, or get caught in the intake fan.
Details of watering:
From when the plant was approximately 14 days old to maybe 5-6 weeks old the plant has been watered once per week, about 1 to 1.5L (1.25L ~ 1/3 gal) of water at a time. This prompts a little bit of a dribble from the centre of the fabric pot. This is when the soil felt dry down to about 1 to 2 knuckles or my moisture meter read dry at several points in the pot. Typically when the plant was removed from the bucket for watering and LST, the soil tended to come away from the side of the pot. For the past week the plant has looked quite dry after about 4 days and has been given about 500 mL of tap water. Water ph has always been between 6-7. Plant was watered 1L today, before the photos.
Details of nutrients:
Nutrients were included with the watering 3 weeks after planting (had 5 nodes). The nutrients are canna terra A+B vege nutes. The first two weeks were 1/4th recommended strength, then 1/2 recommended strength. After the flip to flower I gave full strength canna terra A+B flower nutes.
