HELP! FUCKING MITES IN LATE FLOWERING - What should I do?

    Hello guys,

Im currently growing 2 plants on a 1,6x0,8x0,5m tent. Here where I live we are in spring, but temperatures are on a record high - my grow was registering temps of 40ºC+...

Im just at the end of the 7th week of flowering and - to my despair - I notice that mites are starting to pop on one of my plants. It already has some little webs forming on the tops. The other plant is much better, just a few mites and no webs.

So, after researching a lot, I still have a lot of questions, and will be forever grateful for whoever answer them - especially if it is someone that had the same problem in late flowering!

    Questions:
    • Would it be better to just harvest both plants now to stop the mites from spreading even further?
    • Should I cut off the tops with webs and discard them?
    • Is there anything I can do besides spraying the plants with water, if I choose to not harvest them now?
    • Is it ok to smoke buds from a plant with a mild mites infestation?

Please note that I dont live on the US/Europe, and dont have access to most products people mention online. I also dont have access to predators bugs that could eat the mites.

Thanks a lot! There are some pics of the most affected plant here: https://imgur.com/a/TtxcikG

      Thanks man, I hope so!!

They are not very far from the point where I would harvest, hence the idea of anticipating the harvest. I would cut off the tops to get rid of the parts that are more compromised, so that the rest is in better conditions for smoking..

The product you mentioned would be to disinfect the harvested flowers or to treat the plants while they are alive?

ISO/rubbing alcohol 50/50 with water, spray the under side then the top side and soak em! Repeat every 2-3 days no more than 3 days, for at least 3 treatments then watch. The ISO kills the adults, then eggs hatch, thus the re-spray. The alcohol evaporates fast leaving a bit of moisture. Do turn the lights off, so the plants dont burn. Everclear can be used but cost is higher, also use more water.
Some folks wash their buds, you might look into that also.

Rwise, your tip was killer: I had some leftover iso from some extractions I did with my last harvest, and yesterday I applied the solution you suggested.

It is working very well! Almost all the mites seems to be dead, but I was able to find one fucker alive. Do you think it is okay to do another application today, 24hs after the first one? Thanks mate!!

To treat plants while alive mate also like rwise said washing buds after harvest think u use lemon juice in one bucket and an alkaline in other something along them lines mate i meant disinfect your tent amd everything in it and anything else u use to grow with

I had excellent results using the Monterrey spray as recommended here on GWE. Stop them dead. Plants actually seemed to enjoy the spray. Totally organic. Good to use right up harvest time. As for alcohol mixtures I'd be concerned about stripping trichomes from buds.

Thanks mate!! By "soak em" you mean applying a lot of the solution, right?? Have you tried that method?

Also, do you have any suggestions of what i can use to wash them?

Hmm, unfortunately that product dont seem to be available around here... But thanks for the help! I would definetly do a huge op here to desinfect the grow after those plants are harvested

              UPDATE:

Yesterday I sprayed the iso alcohol and water solution (1:1) on both plants. Let them in a dark place to prevent them from getting burned as the solution dried. I also separated the plants: the one that is more affected is now out of my tent, which was disinfected with alcohol.

Aparently, the treatment is working very well, most of the mites seems to be dead. The problem is that I spotted at least one of the fuckers that was alive and well, moving on the plant.

Do you guys think it would be ok to spray it again with the solution today, 24hs after the 1st application??

Thank, I ended up doing a 2nd application. Justo looked at her and didnt found mites moving around... Hope it stays like that!!

ISO does not kill eggs, so one must re-apply it at 2-3 day intervals. I have read rosemary oil will explode the eggs, but for me rosemary is very strong and I didn't want that on my plants Rosemary chicken good, rosemary buds not so good, LOL.

Until now, the only thing I found that is available for me and does not leave a taste on the buds (at least potentially) is this alcohol solution... Hope it works!!
Yesterday I did a second application on the plant that is more severelly affected. I was looking at her now and didnt found any mites moving

You will have to look at egg cycle like rwise said it not killing eggs so u going have to wait till everything hatches mate
