Cool, thanks for the link_gonna check it out for sure. I have to agree_ once you grow your own its so much more rewarding and people that have tried some of the bud this resulted have commented how good the smoke is.....growing your own you know everything that goes into the plants, can give them pep talks, thumbs up, loving care and can devote more time to the cure. Commercial growers have too many plants to get out in too short a timeframe to spend that much on any individual plants. A grower I know (just stared commercial venture about a year ago) is constantly worrying about one thing or another_ like a juggling act_ but heck they have a lot of $ invested and can't keep enough supply in stock in their dispensary. Both good and not so good. But heck, no competition for them yet so they seem to be doing ok. I like the personal experience from growing my own and wouldn't want to give that up to grow commercial. Good though, that others do.

Pressures of capitalism as currently practiced in US, I reckon. It doesn't have to be that way: folks could form the right kind of collective businesses and do it on their own terms. There will always be the pressures of supply and demand, but I believe that the best farmers will always rise to the top.

I really hope that is the case and if MJ goes the way of craft brews then the little guys_ family and coop farms_ will have a good future! And we'll be able to benefit from their experience, TLC and attention to detail. Those who don't know the difference can buy whatever. There has been a lot of talk about how in the future marketing will be all about effect rather than strain. Effect is something we'll always take into consideration, of course, but it would be a bummer to loose the connections between the strains themselves and the genetics that got them to where they are now. Or of future possibilities.Don't kill the romance! I know some California growers have formed a collective_ more power to them!

That is AWESOME about the CA collective... Wish I could start one, or join one...

sorry for the delayed response but yeah, wish there was one round here I could join too. We all should be working towards forming "user collectives" as a way to politically represent the weed industry.
now that we (well us in the US anyway) have an administration that may not be very weed friendly then our interests need to be voiced_ the more people and organizations involved the more clout we will have.
The Fed needs to spend their resources on fighting the cartels and all the crap they import.
