    Fruitflies in soil

    Dear growers community,

I was advised to add some banana peel and lemon to the soil for acidity and extra potassium. As a result the soil has fruitflies now, and i'm growing indoors.

Is this something to worry about? and if yes, what is the solution?
I've been looking up info about nematodes but didn't find anything specific relating to fruitflies.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Yellow card/fly paper. should work for ya and doesn't take up space if you're growing in a tent.

Get the rotting plant matter out of there and use a couple of yellow sticky traps to catch 'em. You can make your own with anything yellow and something sticky like grease. I've used construction paper and vaseline before and it worked very well.

Are you sure they’re not fungus gnats?
I mistakenly thought I had fruit fly’s and it turned out to be gnats.

LOL shoot they fly around my counter when the bananas get over ripe. Man that's a good idea but not indoor soil with rotten food wastes and it really needs to be broken down before it's useful. But those gnats are harmless i get them when i make my soil but they die within a few days.
