Nitrogen Toxicity - What to Do?

Hi everyone, I have a beginner question. My plants were showing signs of distress and i was able to identify the cause as nitrogen toxicity. So, I flushed out the reservoirs and will use a weaker nute strength to see if the new growth recovers. However, I have a question: my tap water is pretty hard (0.9 EC), so would it be wiser to use RO water instead? I know RO usually isn't worth it, but my water is quite hard and I'm wondering if it's worth it to use RO. Thanks!

Depends on how much water you need daily. The systems aren't the cheapest to own and operate, in small amounts it might be cheaper to buy water at the store. That is a very high EC for tap though. Does letting it sit for 24 hours make a difference in the EC reading? There are also water softening filters or tabs you can add to the water.

I haven't let the water sit -- I'll try that. I found an RO dispenser at my local market so I think I'll go that way. I tried using my tap water for the first few grows but kept running into nute issues, so I figure RO would be worth it in this case. Thanks for the input!!!!

Were I you, I'd go to the top left of this page, click on the menu ( 3 horizontal lines in the green bar) click on plant problems and scroll down to
NITROGEN TOXICITY. It really is that easy.
