    One seed in my harvest??

    Hello,
I was preparing my dried harvest for curing when a single seed popped off a bud. Uh? What? Where did that come from. There were no others. I never saw anything during the grow that looked like they had hermied. Will my harvest be unusable or not potent? Did I do something wrong? I plan to plant the seed next time around, just to experiment. This has never happened to me before. Thanks!

Inside or outside? With only 1, my thought is stray pollen brought in from outside if it is indoor, outdoor pollen travels in the wind.

I have read, tho not confirmed, that sometimes non pollinated bud can produce a seed or two as a means of self preservation. It is possible that you had some stray pollen like Rwise said, or it could be it trying to save it's genetics. Like i said, i have read but not confirmed this so take it with a grain of salt. If it is only one or two seeds it likely wont effect the quality of the buds. Just make sure that there is no hermies or males in the vicinity. Outside this is harder to do as pollen can travel quite a ways. If it's good smoke then keep and plant at a later time. Depending on the plant(s) involved it could be a regular seed (non feminized) so remember that when you plant it and keep an eye out for male parts.

I was recently surprised to find a single seed in a bud I was grinding. It came from a harvest I had from several months ago. Photo fem indoor plant. Still a good smoke. Shocked me...I went back and looked at all the flower pictures to see if I missed something. Didn't see anything obvious.

Tersky is right, a female in segregation away from any and all contamination can still produce seed on her own, many refer to them as a stress seed and from my understanding would be feminized. Seeds can also be produced without a male in a high stressed plant, one broken stem that regrows could be enough stress that she will produce a seed or two attempting to survive her injury. Pretty safe to say unless you break open a bud and seeds fall out by the dozens, potency hasn't been robbed much to produce a few beans in a plant.

Thank god this kind of accidental pregnancy doesn't happen with humans or I'd have 20 kids, lol

Thanks to all. No males anywhere in the neighborhood and she was always indoors. The cabinet did get pretty warm a couple of nights before I caught it. I thought if I am able to germinate the seed, I would grow it out as an only child just to be safe. But it was good that tersky thought to mention it.

I spent too much money on these seeds. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a free one that is true to the Mother?!

Hope congress passes the new bill so Americans can profit from running seed banks! Since we are all here because we agree on the subject of this site, I don’t think I am being political if I say the following. NOW is the time to send a letter, email, phone call, etc. to your Rep and Senator expressing support for the new bill before Congress. Especially if they are a Republican. It is first on the agenda for their upcoming session.

It won't likely be true to the mother but it could be. It could be even better and it could show some nasty recessive traits that mom didn't. A real spin of the wheel but you could hit the jackpot. Was the plant it came from really nice? How's the smoke? If it's not ready yet, hold off until you give it a proper cure and if it's real nice, I'd grow it.
