Soil at Lowe's or home depot?

I used backyard soil and Coco on my last grow had to feed nutes from day one but everything came out good except I only used plain water to flush and didn't care for the outcome anyways I dnt have money for shipping can anyone suggest a common easily accessible soil for me? Plz and thank u

Store soils are good just as long there's no added fertilizer or pesticides and it has plenty of drainage material in it. I have a grow shop around the corner so I can buy their Foxfarm ocean forest compost which you can order online as well not sure about shipping cost and what not. Remember whatever you give to your plants you'll most likely end up smoking it to some extent.

I don't have access except to order on line for the most highly recommended soils. We found a very good one at our local garden shop called Baccto. I think as long as it doesn't have time released nutes like Miracle Gro does, you will probably be fine. If you do use a good soil that has some nutes and or fertilizer built in, you shouldn't need to use additional supplements for the first few weeks to a month.

Ocean forest, coco coir, 1 part each. I emailed fox farm to ask them if coco loco was comparable to my mix but their response was really vague and mostly not informative ... at all! I know you said you don't use ff but green any clue? I like what I read about coco loco it's just a bit more spendy that ocean forest I think.

I actually know nothing about any other mediums....
I started out making my own medium years ago with black dirt, perlite, vermiculite...it sucked
Switched to hydro drip system...then a flood and drain system
Came across coco loco...read the bag...asked the owner of the garden shop he showed me a pic of his setup with coco loco bags....good enough for me to try...plus I missed having complete access to my plants...being able to walk with them....
          After first grow with it.....I was sold...I'm a believer...lol

St.buds no organic nothing around where i live, hydro store? what's a hydro store? i got SO lucky when the local feed store started carrying FF although i get a little bit of the heebie jeebies going in there right in the thick of people who hate me they just don't know it. but we do have at least 2 hme depots and and 2 lowe's. so i did some digging and home depot has started to carry these.

now i have not used them yet, but they look promising...big chart on the back listing all ingredients and in what proportions. plus they seem to be marketing themselves in "a certain way" it seems to me. for example, they've got the obligatory tomato and vegetable mix, and the tropical mix, but if you notice on the link, there's a big bloom mix, a root zone/early mix (which has a recipe for compost tea on the back, and another that sounds just like those sound like the same 3 groups that every other company uses.

        i hope that helps you.

Thanks for providing this info. I may check them out before buying more baccto from the garden shop.

i'm glad it's helping people. i bought a bag of the root zone starter fertilizer one and the tomato veg and HERB one bc they were only 4-5# and not very expensive so that i could give them a test out before mixing up a big batch. if i get time later i'll take pics of the front and back, esp. the back, with the composition breakdown. plus the compost tea recipe!
