    Sterilization of Potting Soil

I've been reading a lot about buying potting soil from stores that have bugs in them like fungus gnats and even worse, spider mites. I want to start sterilizing my potting soils before using it to assure that my grow room is pest free. I'd like to know what people think about this and if you have any ideas for how to go about sterilizing it.

For whatever it may be worth, I baked some @ 250*F for about an hour each batch.

I sterilize my potting soil by baking it at 250*F for 45 minutes to an hour. Had a terrible batch of fungus gnats come in a bag and ever since then, I bake the soil before planting ANYTHING. Dont really know the details around it, but it works for me!

I use Happy Frog Potting Soil. I called the company and they said DO NOT STERILIZE because it will get rid of all essential nutrients they've added to their soil.

Ok so do they guarantee no bad bugs in their soil?
