    SOIL Too much humidity?

    Hey guys!

I'm starting to grow now so we can say that I'm really a noob. Currently I have a tent/grow room of 1.2m x 1.2m x 2 m (of course with the extractor and air intake and the fan) and I'm using LED. I'll have 2 LEDs but now I just have one of them (check model: https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B07X6CXKHN) and the seeds were put now in the bags after coming from a wet paper method. I'm seeing that with this one light I have 78% of humidity which, as I have read, can be worrying for the growing and flowering of the plant. Should I wait a bit for the plants to sprout and grow to see if humidity gets lower? I'm also thinking of getting either silica bags or a dehumidifier but I wanted to know from your opinion which one would be better? I would like to do this the natural way possible. If silica is good, how much would I need to decrease humidity?

PS: I'm using 6 auto plants (I have no idea if it's important or no)

    Thank you so much!

    Cordially,

Is it a tent or a room? If tent what is the humidity of the room the tent is in. If it is much lower then there is an issue. I feel as i have heard of high humidity with an intake fan before. I never use an intake fan as it is not necessary. The extractor fan creates negative pressure in the tent which then sucks air in from the outside via the handy dandy vents that are built into the tent.

Second, what do you have in there with so much water? do you have several pots that you just watered? Thats the only way i can see the humidity to be so high if the room humidity is normal. As the plant grows the humidity will increase as the more fan leaves the plant has the more humidity it produces.

Third, a cheap small dehumidifier or silica packets will only help lower rh a few %. It may bring it down to 75% RH which is not good for flower. The only way to really address humidity is to control the humidity of the room the tent is in. This means expensive almost commercial dehumidifiers.

My suggestion, get rid of intake fan and set tent up for passive intake and see if that changes rh. If the rh is just high where you live then you may want to look into possibly creating a sealed environment with high volume dehumidifier.

Oh and i looked at the light you mentioned and just to let you know that it is probably not a true 1000w light. Most led sellers give a misleading watt number saying its 1000w when it actually only pulls 200w from the wall. I couldnt find any mention of actual wattage. Most sellers will say something like replaces a 1000w HPS while only using 200w which is bullshit. LED's are efficient but not that efficient yet. If you want to know how many actual watts your light is get a watt tester and test it.

      Thank you so much Tresty!

Well, it is a tent. I just turn off the intake so I'll wait 2 hours to see if it gets lower. I've also check our weather websites and my region when it rains (like now) humidity can go up to 95% :/ .

I do have several pots watered so I could transplant the first seeds where they will grow now.

Ok, so the best option would be to buy a good dehumidifier right? is there any that you recommend?

Also, about the lights, I do know that info as it'll not have the W it says it has, was just for you guys to have a general idea of the equipment I have at the moment.

      Thanks!

No worries, i thought i'd let you know about the light. I feel like a lot of LED sellers are scammers so i just wanted to let you know . I dont know of any brands of dehumidifiers so maybe someone can help you out on that. I tried the small ones that advertisers say are great for grow tents but never really did much to correct the humidity. Then i did some more research and realized that unless you correct the air going into the tent then RH wont improve much. Im not 100% sure that the intake is the problem but i remember someone having issues with humidity that had one. Getting the environment to ideal temp and humidity is one of the hardest things if you live in a hot and humid climate. I live in southern US so heat is my main issue but sometime humidity is a little higher than i would like it to be in flower. If you sitll have trouble with humidity try to get temps lower at least as higher temps can create humidity issues as well. I would also invest in some small fans for airflow inside the tent . I have a clip on fan that i use so air flows freely. Along with that, when your plant gets bushy you may have to defoliate to help airflow. It will probably take a few grows to dial things in to the way you want so dont stress if things go wrong. Its how we learn and adapt! High humidity is not bad in veg and having semi high rh in flower (talking 60% RH) is manageable but you have to have good airflow within the tent as well or bud rot, mold and mildew happen. It seems like a lot but definitely not impossible.

Autos can be left without shutting tent door if high humidity i leave everything open place a fan lightly circulating outside tent. Up most importance is to know the true watts of your lighting. For that many plants in that space your more than likely to need more light if it's not high enough wattage from the wall.

Hey Tersky just to update that I indeed put there a dehumidifier and that was the only solution that made a better environment! Thanks for everything!
